Guigsy came round. He was staying up in Manchester, he hadn't forgotten his roots at all. He popped in whenever he felt like spending some time with us. This time was different. He was suited up like he was going somewhere fancy.

I on the other hand was still in bed. I had been up with the kids but I'd gone back for a nap in my bed, not Liam's.

"We've got to stop meeting in your bed." he said, stood at the door with a smirk.

"In your dreams Guigsy." I shot back.

I sat up, excited to have him here. He'd lifted my mood and gave me the energy I needed to get up.

"Did I interrupt a good nap?"

"Yeah, Nathan spent the night screaming the place down, he's getting ill or he's getting a tooth but either way, I'm shattered." I told him, grumpily, not wanting him to know I was just exhausted.

"Liam doesn't look so bad."

"He probably did a white line." I shrugged, he had to be getting his energy somewhere I wasn't.

He opened his mouth to defend him but he didn't say anything so I did, changing the subject.

"What're you wearing?"

He looked like he was due for his day in court. He just looked odd dressed up like that, I'd never seen it. He looked suave, it wasn't him.

"It's a suit, for the awards ceremony."

I didn't know of any awards ceremonies that were going on but then I didn't know about anything like that anymore. "What?"

"You won't be interested." he insisted but I waited. "Man City's award ceremony, charity event, celebrating the players and the groups we're connected to."

I snorted a laugh. "What's to celebrate there?"

"We do it every year, just cos the club's not in a good place, don't mean we can't celebrate the team." he said, unimpressed.

"Sorry." I got up and started getting dressed again. "So you came here first in your fresh suit, to the toddler and the baby?"

"Yeah. I'm excited, alright?"

"Are you presenting one of these awards?"

He nodded. "Get this, the Paul McGuigan Player of the Season award."

"How much did you have to pay, donate to get that honour?"

"Worth every penny. We were gonna be on the board anyway so it's the least I can do."

"Back when I was the same one out of all of us."

"You didn't talk us out of it, we just couldn't sort it out and obviously Bonehead."

"Yeah, it's all Bonehead's fault you don't own a chunk of your first division football club."

"Second, we went down again." he admitted under his breath.

Liam came to us. "What're you two rabbiting about up here?"

"Why aren't you going to this City thing?"

"There's no award in it for me." he answered quickly, ushering us downstairs.

I didn't believe him. He wasn't remotely that selfish. He didn't think he could leave me and my boys alone and do something fun for himself, that was his reason.

"You should go, it sounds like it could be a lot of fun for yous two." I encouraged.

"No." he shook his head. "I can't."
