Liam tried to move himself into the flat (he had the suitcase he'd brought back from the tour and apparently that was all he needed) but I insisted there was no room for him and he wasn't sleeping on the settee any longer. He said he'd go to a hotel but this was Liam, he wasn't actually going to be told no. He even pretend to be looking for a room to stay in.
George worked more shifts, chose to go out more, anything to get out of our way. I knew she'd hate it when the baby came. At least one of us was still bringing in money.
Although I was glad Liam was here for us, I wished he would go away, just for a little bit. If he wasn't there, maybe George would stay home and then she'd get her confidence around the baby. She was a mum to him too. She'd barely acknowledged he was there.
I sat on Ste's bed, reading to him and Nathan for Ste's bedtime story. Well not really a story. When Liam walked in I froze. Ste wasn't happy
"What you reading him that for? Why'd you even buy it?" he questioned.
"I didn't, Paul sent Ste a signed copy so he'd always know about his daddy's family." I let him see the signed page.
"It's crap."
"So your mum and your brother's memories are crap and these photos, those aren't you?" I held up a picture of Liam as a teenager with a dodgy looking mustache.
"No but..."
"It's Paul's five minutes of fame, let him have it."
"Well you can chuck it in the bin now cos I'm here to tell them how things really went."
"Are you kidding? This is a signed limited edition print about the Gallaghers' family life, written by a Gallagher. It'll be worth loads in a few years!"
"Since when d'you care about the cost of summat?"
"Since I sold the BMW and found out how mad for it people really are."
"You'll be selling the kids next!"
"I wonder how much someone would pay for a chance to own you."
"Ya can't sell me. I won't go."
"People do it all the time."
"What, those stupid charity auctions?"
"No, I was thinking, what's that Stephen King movie? Misery or summat."
"She don't sell him. She breaks his legs so he can't leave!"
"Oh, I've not seen it. She does keep him though, doesn't she?"
"Me neither. You should stop being horrible to me after what I've given ya."
"Months of pain followed by the worst pain there is." I said sarcastically, not watching what I was saying around Ste.
"All worth it now."
"Meant being stuck with you."
"You love having me around."
"Get lost, Ste's trying to get to sleep."
"Give us Nathan then and we'll get out your way." He held out his hands to take him.
"No. He's listening too."
"What's the fucking point of me being here if I can't have him?!" he got frustrated.
"You've had him loads."
"I've not! You never put him down."
"I do."
"How many times has he slept in his bed, not on you?"
