I couldn't forget our adventure to Manchester and back. It was all too much, the stares, the gossiping, it was all so loud. I couldn't subject my sons to all that senseless noise. I didn't know why I was attracting so much buzz seven months after I'd escaped Oasis' bubble, no one bothered to talk about me back then so why now?
I decided to go to a car dealership straight away and I didn't fancy going on my own. I'd never bought a car before. Dad had bought my first, the blue Austin Metro, the lads swapped it for the navy BMW and Noel had gotten me the black Jaguar.
If the Beemer hadn't held so many memories I would've never sold it. I shouldn't've sold it. Now some Oasis fanboy had my car, thinking it served as memorabilia for the band. I did enjoy telling him how it had taken them all over the country to certain important gigs though. I wanted it back, I wanted the Metro back but I could only move on.
Georgia refused to come with me. I tried to get her to come even though she didn't even drive so she knew less about buying cars than I did. I needed her approval. She was totally against the idea of me getting a car though so we argued.
"So you can go off cheating on me?"
"I can't take a car across the world!"
"Not talking about him."
I wasn't going to ask her who she was on about if it wasn't him. "Come with me. I've never been to a car place on my own before."
"No, I told you we can't afford a car." she insisted but it was so obvious that it wasn't about the money.
"Ste' can and he wants to see his nan more." I argued.
He hadn't stopped talking about Peggy and her house. He couldn't wait to see her again so naturally I promised he would soon.
Liam was right. Noel was giving me money to make Ste's life better and it would be far better, far easier if he didn't have public transport to have tantrums on. We could get around so much quicker. The kids wouldn't have to be out waiting in the cold and the pouring rain.
"She doesn't wanna see you though."
"We had a great time."
"She was humouring you. You just turned up at her house with her grandson, she could hardly tell you to fuck right back off, could she?"
I couldn't understand why she was being like that. With a car she wouldn't have to walk to work or to do the shopping or anything. She knew I wasn't gonna take off, I only wanted to be right here with her, I loved her too much.
"We just need a car. How am I getting to hospital in labour without one?" I pointed out, not wanting to listen to her negativity.
She couldn't argue with that. She agreed to go with me but she walked round the place in a right mood even while the sales guy was trying to help us. I should've let her stay home with Ste.
He asked what we were looking for out of the huge collection of cars they had on site. The place was huge. I didn't really know what I wanted beyond a car but I was going to sound confident anyway, if I didn't he'd certainly take me for a ride.
"We need a family car, one that'll be easy with two kids in the back." I explained. "Not a BMW or a Jag."
He chuckled. "Bad experience with those?"
"Something like that." I told him, hoping he wouldn't try to find out more.
"Why don't ya tell him you don't want a yellow submarine either?" George muttered moodily.
