"How was your day?" Edward asked helping me into his car. I was beyond tired and had a stack of homework to do.
"Besides feeling like you were going to dump me and being insanely jealous, pretty good."
"I can't just dump you." Edward said getting into the car. "I would have to get a divorce first."
I stared at him.
"Not saying I would-"
I laid my head on the seat and Edward rubbed my arm and kissed my neck. I turned to him.
"Get going."
"Kiss me, I'm Irish." I laughed and pecked his lips. He started the car and began driving.
"I have so much homework." I sighed.
"I did all my homework."
"How? When?"
"In class, he was going over it and I just did it."
"Sometimes I wish I was a vampire."
"You were a vampire."
"Was." I said and looked out of the window.
"Bella-"
"It's fine, has the Volturi done anything?"
"What do you mean?"
"They said something about not giving second chances."
"Yeah, nothing, yet."
"I just don't understand, isn't it more dangerous to leave me human."
"Bella-" Edward's eyes looked troubled.
"What is it?"
"You weren't suppose to live. The process was suppose to kill you."
"So...that means?"
"That means if the Volturi finds out you're alive we're all dead."
"Did they ever come? To Forks?"
"No, Alice's vision changed."
"I don't understand. If the Volturi wants me dead why don't they just kill me?"
"Because it's a punish. it's all very confusing Bella I don't expect you to grasp everything."
"I'm scared, are we putting Renee and Phil in danger?"
"Bella, the sad truth is that where ever you go, whatever you do, and who ever you do it with, you are in danger and the person is in danger."
"People could die because of me?"
"Bella-"
"Just answer it Edward."
"People have died because of you."
My breath caught in my throat and Edward got out to help me out of the car. I walked with him across the street and into the apartment.
There was a not on the fridge:
Hey Bella, me and Phil will be out until kind of late. There is some meatloaf and salad in the fridge. Make sure Edward has so too.
Love you and be good.
I opened the refrigerator and pulled out the meatloaf and bowl of salad. I sat the salad on the counter and placed the meatloaf in the oven. I went to see where Edward went.
He was sitting perfectly still in the living room.
"What are you doing?"
"Concentrating." He responded without moving. I went to my room and changed into some sweats and a long T-shirt I went back and sat in Edward's lap.
He wrapped his arms around me and I laid on his chest.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know, I'm scared Edward."
"I can leave anytime you want, it would be safer for you."
"No." I said shaking my head against his solid chest.
He held my face in-between his hands and kissed me softy. I brought my face closer to his and kissed him again. He moved his hand slightly under my bottom and brought me up so my neck was at his face.
He planted some kisses there and bit down lightly. He flipped us so he was laying on top of me and caressing my thighs.
I grabbed his hair and wrapped my finger in it.
"Hey kids!" Renee said storming in. I jumped up and Renee walked in.
"Everything okay Bella?"
"Yeah, I was just waiting for the meatloaf to get done."
"Make sure to get your homework done." Renee said walking over and kissing my forehead lightly.
I stared at Edward and a wide grin spread over his face. I hit him softy.
"You could have told me she was coming."
"But then it wouldn't be fun to watch you fumble for words." he laughed and kissed my cheek.
The meatloaf warmed and I ate and Edward just watched. I did my homework and again Edward just watched.
I climbed into bed and Edward was there.
"You need some company?" He slid next to me and wrapped his arms around me. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight." I sighed into my chest.
