The taxi ride to the London hotel was relaxing as I watched the scenery. Emma secured a room at one of the nicest hotels in England which made it the most exciting night in my life. I had watched the building get built and thought I would never be able to go in.
"Mae, once we check in and put down our jackets, we will go to your childhood home," Scott said as we pulled up to the hotel. I smiled at him and he smiled back.
"Allow me to change shoes and clothes first. I would like to wear a blouse and skirt with my black boots," I said as the taxi driver opened the door for me to get out.
"That is fine. Emma, ensure Miss Morgan's change is done flawlessly as we don't want to wait all day," Scott said as he helped me out of the taxi.
"Yes sir," Emma said as she started up to the room that I could only assume Robert already checked into.
"Ready to impress the first class?" Scott whispered to me as we headed for the lobby. I smiled at him and he kept his head forward. We were instantly into the pits of fashion as we walked in and it took everything in me to not make my jaw drop.
"This is beautiful," I said. We both stopped for a second as we looked around.
"Is this your first time here?" a male voice said as we admired the beauty. We turned and there stood Mr John Jacob Astor and his wife Ms. Madeleine Astor. It was clear that Madeleine was hiding her pregnancy.
"Yes. My fiancée and I have not come here before so it is quite a beauty," Scott said.
"Don't worry, I was the same way when I first walked in as well. No need to be shy," Madeleine said.
"Well, I'm Scott Sire and this is my fiancée Mae Morgan," Scott said as he offered his hand to Mr. Astor.
"John Jacob Astor and this is my wife, Madeleine," Mr. Astor said.
"Please call me Maddie," Madeleine said. I smiled.
"Of course Maddie," I said. She smiled at me.
"What brings you two to London?" Mr. Astor said. Scott looked at me.
"It's my home town and I wanted to say good bye before we leave on the Titanic," I said as I looked at the Astors.
"The Titanic? Why, we will be joining you on the maiden voyage," Mr. Astor said. Scott smiled.
"Well, Mr. Astor, it will be a pleasure to enjoy your company on the Titanic," Scott said.
"Please, call me John, and I am certain that our friendship will only bloom while we are on the Titanic," Mr. Astor stated. Scott nodded.
"Oh, Mae, you simply must have tea with me today. John doesn't like a single one of these men and women so I would love some girl time between the two of us," Maddie said.
"Scott, darling, what time is it? I want to make sure I can give Maddie a reasonable time," I said as I looked at Scott. He pulled out his watch and looked at the time.
"Eleven twenty four," Scott told me as he closed his watch. I smiled at Maddie.
"Three o'clock tea?" I asked. She smiled and took my hands.
"Of course. You and I are going to be great friends," she said. I smiled and John looked at Scott.
"Perhaps we should get some drinks at three, Scott. I would love to talk watches with you. Your watch is quite interesting," John said.
"Wait a minute. Mae, you said that you are from London?" Maddie asked. I nodded and smiled.
"I loved here until I was fifteen then moved to Paris," I said. Maddie looked at John.
"If you don't mind us joining us, Maddie wanted to go around the city and we can't find a reliable tour guide," John said. I looked at Scott and I felt myself get slightly sad. I wanted to visit the slums.
"That would be up to Mae. I would love to see London the way that my fiancée sees it," Scott said.
"Part of my London is the slums and I don't want to pull people that may not know the slums through them if they don't want to go," I said.
"John here loves city slums. John is a big softie and want to help those in lesser conditions than ourselves," Maddie said. I bit my lip.
"As long as you are okay with it," I said.
"Scott and I are big strong men. We can protect precious cargo," John said as he put his hands on Maddie's shoulders. Scott laughed and rubbed my hand.
"Well then, I would recommend that Maddie changes into a blouse and skirt so she can be comfortable and move with the crowds that are my London," I said. Maddie smiled and looked at John.
"Then perhaps our tea can be at a later time," Maddie said.
"We have our whole trip to America to make it up," I said.
"We'll meet back down here in, let's say an hour to beginning the tour of Miss Mae Morgan's London," John said. I smiled and nodded before Scott and I headed to the elevator.
"We are going to be in communication with the Astors," Scott said as we started going up. The elevator operator was silent as we went up.
"Maddie is nice and I think that she will be a good friend of mine," I said as we got to the thirteenth floor. Scott opened the door of the hotel room and we walked in.
"I have Miss Morgan's outfit laid out," Emma said. I nodded and walked towards the bathroom to change.
