After an hour, Scott put me back on the railing as the Titanic started moving agian. I didn't start waving again but Scott and I stayed to look at the people working on the ships that were docked as we went by. I held Scott's arms and he kept his hands on the railing. As we reached the exit of the harbour, Scott pulled out the four pins holding up my hair and my hair started to whip in the wind.
"Mae, Scott, would you like to join us for tea?" Elisabeth asked. We looked at her and I looked at Scott.
"I would love to join you for tea but of course I cannot speak for Scott," I told her. We looked at Scott and he nodded.
"Escorting lovely ladies to tea is a brilliant idea," Scott said as a younger lady and an older lady that seemed to be with Elisabeth.
"Scott, Mae, please meet my aunt, Elisabeth Walton Robert, and my cousin, Georgette Madill," Elisabeth said. I smiled at her then the younger girl who was probably around fifteen.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all," I said as I took Scott's arm.
"Shall we go to tea?" Scott asked. Both Elisabeths, which I will call the older Elisabeth Mrs. Roberts, started walking and Scott stopped to look at Georgette, who had her head down. "Miss Madill, may I escort you to the dining hall?" Scott asked, offering his other arm to Georgette. She smiled and nodded.
"Thank you, Scott," she said as she took his arm and I smiled at how polite Scott was being.
"It is my honour to escort a beautiful young lady," Scott told her as we walked to the dinning hall and she held her head up. I looked at Scott who smiled and then looked out at the water.
"Mae, Scott, what brings you to the Titanic?" Elisabeth asked as we sat at a table in the dining hall.
"We just got engaged so we want to move to America to start our new life together," I said.
"Well, we are moving you to America. I am American," Scott said and I shook my head.
"We are American as well. Where are you from Scott?" Mrs. Roberts asked.
"New York City. May I venture as to ask about your place of birth?" Scott asked.
"Saint Louis," Georgette stated as the waiter brought over tea. Scott poured us all a cup of tea while I tried to remember where Saint Louis was.
"Mae, are you okay?" Elisabeth asked. I smiled while I looked down.
"I'm trying to remember where the important cities are therefore Saint Louis is in..." I said.
"Missouri. I take it you are not an American," Elisabeth said. I laughed a little.
"I was born and raised in London," I said. She nodded.
"That is where I am to live with my fiancée as soon as I finish gathering my belongings from Saint Louis," Elisabeth said. I smiled at her.
"London is a beautiful place to live," I told her and she smiled.
"I guess you can say that we are trading countries," she said. I laughed and Scott touched my leg. It shocked me that he did something so brazen as to touch my leg.
"I am sure that you are ready to see everything that America has to offer," Mrs. Roberts said. I took a deep breath as I took a sip of my tea.
"Certainly," I told her and then my company of four Americans started talking about America so I watched the people dancing politely to celebrate that we were on the Titanic. I smiled and watched until a small tug appeared on my sleeve. I looked towards the tug and found a small boy looking at me.
"Excuse me, miss, but I, Mr. Robert Spedden, would like to invite you to dance with me," he said. I smiled and looked at Scott.
"You must ask my fiancée," I told him and Scott looked over. Little Robert walked over and looked at Scott.
"May I dance with your fiancée, sir?" Robert asked. Scott smiled and looked at me.
"I am certain that Mae would love to dance with you," Scott said. Robert offered his arm to me and I took it as I stood up. He escorted me to the dance floor. I had to lean over a little bit to hold him properly but he acted like a gentleman, standing on his toes so I didn't have to lean over as much.
"Master Spedden, thank you for inviting me to dance," I told the young boy. He smiled at me with a small boyish grin.
"Miss, I don't believe that I got your full name," Robert told me.
"Morgan, Miss Mae Morgan," I told him.
"Miss Morgan, I invited you to dance with me since you looked so sad to be on the Titanic. Are you feeling well?" he asked. I smiled and stopped dancing as I went on my knees to look at him.
"Mr. Spedden, just because I am not smiling does not mean I am not happy to be on the Titanic. What I am is unsure of our futures to where we are going," I told him as the light caught the diamond on my necklace which made Robert look at it.
"This is beautiful," Robert said. I touched it and smiled.
"Thank you," I told him. Scott walked over and Robert and I looked at him.
"Young sir, do you mind if I dance with my fiancée?" Scott asked. Robert smiled and offered my hand to him. It was going to be the first time I would dance with Scott.
