"It's 12:15 and all they have done is move us into the reception room and told the orchestra to play," Scott fumed as he slammed his watch shut. I flinched a little and he rubbed my shoulders.
"I don't think that any of them have a damn clue what's going on," Molly said. I told Scott, Emma, and Robert not to tell a soul about what was going on because it would cause a panic and that was the last thing that anyone would want.
"Maybe we should have an officer explain what in Heavens name what is going that we all got out of bed to get here for them," Maddie stated.
"Running a ship is very particular and that shudder probably caused a safety procedure that made them call us up to the deck," Scott said to stop everyone.
"The way I see it is that none of them have any business calling us out of bed and to put on our lifebelts when this is an unsinkable ship that doesn't need us even have lifeboats aboard," JJ stated and I looked at Scott who kissed the top of my head.
"Excuse me," I said as I walked to the lifts and Scott grabbed my arm as Emma and Robert ran up behind him.
"Where are you going?" he asked. I looked at him.
"I want to get the Johnstons and Alfred ready to load the lifeboats as well," I stated. He shook his head.
"We can't go right now, Mae. It is too dangerous to go down when they should be loading the lifeboats any minute now," he said. I looked at the lift operator and sighed.
"They will be fine, right?" I asked. He nodded.
"Why wouldn't they be fine?" he asked. I smiled and he smiled back but they were both forced as we looked at each other. Nothing was for certain until we saw them safe on whatever ship we were saved by.
"They are calling us outside," Robert whispered and Scott held my hand as we walked to the door that led to the deck. I looked back once and shook my head as I put my head down.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I will require all women and children to come to the front and be loaded onto the lifeboats," an officer announced and I looked at Scott.
"I am not leaving you," I stated. He hugged me to his chest and I held on to his lifebelt as he looked at the officer.
"What are we going to do?" Emma asked, softly. I knew that she was talking to Robert and the look on her fact was I wish that I could change.
"We are going to get you on a lifeboat and I will find another lifeboat to get on then we will be safe again," he stated and she hugged her husband.
"Scott! Scott!" Officer Lowe yelled. I looked towards the voice and Scott held on to me fastly as Robert and Emma got closer to us.
"Harold, I am trying to get my bride-to-be to a lifeboat," Scott stated as people walked towards lifeboats all over the place.
"Follow me. I have seat for you, all of you," Officer Lowe stated as he looked behind him. I looked up at Scott and he took a deep breath.
"You told me that it wasn't honourable to do that, Harold," Scott whispered to him. Officer Lowe looked at me and shook his head.
"It is not honourable if it for selfish reasons or personal gain. You have a family to think about now and I am not about to let you lose your family again," Officer Lowe stated and I grabbed Scott's hand which made Scott look at me.
"Lead the way, Harold," Scott stated and he held on to Scott's lifebelt. He led the way to lifeboat 5.
"I have a woman and her fiancé with their maid and manservant," Officer Lowe told the officer on the boat.
"Harold, we can't take more people on this boat," the officer stated.
"Listen, Pitman, you are taking them and that is final," Officer Lowe stated.
"I am higher than you and I said no," Officer Pitman said. I looked at Scott in panic.
"It's Scott and his fiancée," Officer Lowe said and Officer Pitman looked at us.
"Damn it. Scott, help me load your group," Officer Pitman said. Scott moved us forward and I looked at the boat that was loaded and ready to be lowered.
"Emma, up you go," I stated as I pulled her to the railing. She stepped up and the men helped put her into the lifeboat. Scott pulled me to the railing.
"Mae, you're next," he said as he lifted me on to the railing. I looked back at him as Emma was taking a seat.
"I thought you said that I shouldn't stand on railings," I stated as he looked up at me. He smiled at me and I couldn't help but to smile back.
"You are next darling," Officer Pitman said and I took his hand as I stepped into the boat. I tripped over my own feet and I caught myself on the edge of the lifeboat. I let out a scream as I saw the water.
"Mae!" Scott yelled. I felt someone pull me up and wrap my arm around their neck.
"I got her! I got her!" Officer Pitman yelled as my feet were pulled up onto the boat. I took several deep breaths as Robert got on and Emma tried to calm me down.
"Mae, are you okay?" Scott asked as he jumped the gap. I looked at him and nodded. He hugged me and kissed my forehead.
"Scott take a seat. We are lowering now," Officer Pitman said. Scott sat on a piece of wood that was going across and I sat next to him. He put his arm around me and nodded to Officer Lowe.
"I will see on the other side," Scott yelled to him and Officer Lowe saluted.
