Chapter 2.

Adam walked down the street to his workplace. It was fairly early in the morning and he could see hardly any clouds in the sky. He sighed as he headed to his job, which he hated, and looked around at his village.

It was a small village. There were various people living in it, some from foreign countries, and each had their own lives. The village was created sometime in the 1960's, at least that's what Adam thought anyway, and it showed. The village was close to a hill, known as The Open Hill, and upon it was a flag. A white flag that symbolised peace.

The people of the village was varied as well. Some were friendly, others mean, some energetic and others were lazy. It took all sorts to live in the village. The village was called Campton Green. It was named as such because of the man who founded it, David Campton, and the fact that there was a green hill near by.

Adam walked past an old shop, The Toolshed, and he looked inside. It was the sort of shop that had random junk and antiques. Sometimes it had the odd valuable item but not often. He wondered if he should go in and he began to turn away when, suddenly, the shopkeeper came running out.

"Ahh, Adam, just the man I want to see." The old man said. He had short grey hair, with a growing bald patch in the middle, and dark brown eyes. His skin was dark brown and wrinkled. He wore a white shirt and grey trousers, with brown boots. Around his neck was a necklace, with a cross, dangling from it.

Adam looked at the man and shrugged. Whatever he wanted it probably wasn't much. Sometimes he'd call him in to see something, which would turn out to be nothing, but he decided to have a look anyway. It wouldn't hurt, right?

As he entered he looked around. The shop was fairly small, nothing fancy, it was almost like a corner shop. It was a fairly dark place with multiple shelves, that were stacked with numerous items of many different descriptions. There was paintings, clocks, clothes, tools, tables and chairs, and many others. It was a treasure trove of random items.

"So, what's up?" Asked Adam, as he walked over to the desk, "What item will I turn down today?"

The man smiled, "I think you'll like this one." He replied, as he tapped his nose.

"Arthur, please don't tease me. I've got to go to work now." moaned Adam, "So just hurry up and tell me."

Arthur nodded and grabbed something from the shelf behind him. It was a box. A black box with gold trimmings. It looked Victorian. Arthur opened it. There was a soft, red, cushion inside with gold patterns around the edges. But the most important thing, was a gold watch.

Adam looked at it. He was silent for a few moments until he spoke, "And once again it's an item I wouldn't care for." Another disappointment. He began to walk out the door, until one thing caught his attention.

"This is no ordinary watch." Began Arthur, "This watch was found by an old friend of mine. He tested it for himself and it's very interesting." He waited until Adam had stopped and spoke the important bit, "This gold watch can assist in time travel, you know."
