Chapter 16.
Adam was alone. He had been thrown out by the only beings who he could interact with. They may not have been human but were close enough. A part of him was scared. He was alone in an unknown world. Walking away from the tunnel, he looked back. No safety, no shelter.
His mind wandered to his current predicament. He needed to find some kind of shelter, somewhere to stay. He could just sleep in the time machine, but, he wanted to experience the world and learn about it. He also didn't want to accidently hit some buttons and travel five hundred years in the past or something.
"Maybe I should go outside. I might learn about the world. Or what happened here." He said to himself, as he rubbed his left arm. When he was alone, he would rub his arm. Only when he was as alone as he is now. He remembered one time, when he was younger, he got lost in a shop. He wandered around for twenty minutes looking for his mother. He was seven years old. He cried when he couldn't find her and started to rub his left arm. As a way to try calm himself down.
He exited out the front and looked around. It looked the same as before, his time machine was visible in the distance. The grass was still fairly green and the sky was still blue, but cloudy. The hill to his right was quite high and inviting. He did wonder what was on the other side. If there even was anything on the other side.
"Should I go over there, or stay here in the safety of this building?" He asked himself, as he took a step back. He was scared. Like a little child scared of the big bad world outside of home. Like a child who is scared of being left at school for the first time. He was afraid. Of the relative safety of the temple.
Suddenly, a thought dawned upon him. The Angels acted in a similar manner. They were afraid of going outside of their tunnel, out of the room where they lived. It was safety that they wanted! He turned around and looked into the temple. He was like them, or was they like him. He came from a time before they existed. So maybe, just maybe, things had not changed as much as he thought. Maybe he could find an answer to what had happened in this world, in this time.
He rushed off towards the hill. And to find answers.
