Chapter 31.

Adam sighed heavily as he turned his attentions to the hole beside him. It was dark and very deep. It went deep into the bowels of the earth. It was the new world underneath the earth. An even more unknown world than the future, because he at least knew where he was going.

He tiptoed carefully into the hole. It was dug carefully. It was like a tunnel that fell through the earth. He thought it was almost like a throat. And he was the food. It was the newest journey for him. The tunnel had an incline downward, like a slope. Adam slowly slid down. It was getting darker and darker as he did. It became pitch black. He could see nothing, not even his hand in front of his own face. He remembered when he was a young boy. He was afraid of the dark, because monsters might try eat him when he was asleep. A child like belief but, he realised, it might be true now.

It took him five minutes to get down to the bottom. It was still dark. He walked forward slowly, trying to feel his way around. The ground felt, different. It did not feel like rock or earth. It felt, cold, somehow. He wasn't sure what it was but it was not natural.

There were sounds. Of creatures that were dark. He felt some kind of insects crawling upon his hands. They were white coloured creatures. He knew they were troglodytes, creatures that live only in caves. He was worried what else might be in here.

Suddenly, he saw some light up ahead. The light was orange in colour and seemed very hot. He walked through the entrance before him and shielded his eyes from the light.

What was before him, surprised him greatly.
