Chapter47.
Adam jumped forward towards the rope. He pushed off his legs as hard as he could and he hoped he'd not fall. His heart was beating as fast as possible, due to fear. Time seemed to slow down as he flew through the air, his arms out in front of him, and he seemed to be going through the air as slow as a slug.
"Please make it. Please make it in one piece!" He said to himself, almost in a mantra like fashion. Failure was not an option. Nothing more than success would suffice for him. His arms grabbed on to the rope. He sighed with relief. Now he had to swing over to the other side.
He held on to the rope as tightly as he could. He didn't want to fall into the spikes now. He was half way through to success. He swung as hard as he could and waited until the rope got the right height and then he let go. He flew through the air. His heart felt like it had jumped up into his throat. He flew over the spikes. His trousers just caught a spike and he fell face first to the floor. He held out his arms to stop the impact. He landed with a thud. The impact went through his arms. He lay down upon the floor in pain.
Adam lay there in pain for a few minutes. Resting. He knew it might be a bad idea but he felt a quick rest was what he needed. He unhooked his trouser leg from the spike and walked over to the corner of the area. He sat down in the corner and fell asleep. He was fairly tired and he felt he needed a quick nap.
He woke up ten minutes later, well rested. He stood up and stretched his arms. He was happier now. Even after everything that happened, he knew a good rest was all he needed. He turned and slowly opened the door in front of him. He was unsure what was inside so, as a precaution, he readied his knife.
