Chapter 44.

Adam walked slowly down the tunnel. He was in pain but, for him, it was worth it. He felt he needed to suffer for his mistakes. He may never have thought that if he didn't come here. A part of him wished he never did. He thought it might have been a better idea to just stay at home and live his life like any normal person. Remain unaware of future events and live his life like he always had. Grow up, get married, have children and then die. And not be around for the Formation War.

But that was impossible now. Even if he went back home, and he would, his life would never be the same. He knew the world would be different in the future and he could not forget it. He'd be a changed man and, in consequence, prepared. He'd change his life around and prepare for the future. His children would be safe, and his friends and family. He felt it was for the best.

He stopped and took off his shirt. It was covered in blood and, very carefully, he used it on his wound. It was very dangerous to walk and he began to feel tired and weak. Partly because of blood loss and partly because of hunger. Taking seven steps forward, he stopped, and he fell to the ground hard. He lay in a very weak state.

"I'm going to die here aren't i?" He thought to himself, as he lay on the ground, "I've failed." A gloomy mood came over him. Here he was, lay on the floor bleeding. And he was going to die in the future. No one would know where he was. And no one could mourn him.

He looked around to try find a rock, so he could leave some kind of message on the wall. If he was going to die, he wanted to leave some kind of mark on the world. Some knowledge of his existence. He turned to the left and saw nothing, then to the right and saw the same. He looked forward and saw some kind of mushroom. It was glowing a light green colour, like a glow in the dark lamp.

Adam saw it and slowly pulled himself towards it. He made his way, in pain with every single movement he made. He got to the mushroom.

"I wonder if this will heal me." He said to himself. He knew the chances of it were very slim but he thought he should try, "I'm going to die anyway so, even if it kills me that didn't matter anyway. Let's risk it." He grabbed the mushroom and shoved it all in to his mouth. He shook all over, it was sour and disgusting. He thought it tasted like lemon juice, eggs, rotting fish and overcooked meat. It went down his throat with ease.

"That," He said, "was the most horrible thing i have ever eaten!" He spat on the floor. He began to shake all over and he looked down at his wound. It slowly began to heal, the wound closed and the blood wasn't pouring out of him. The pain was slowly going away and a feeling of pleasure replaced it. He smiled as he began to heal.

"Ok, let's go find Luna." He exclaimed, as he dropped his shirt and ran down the cave.
