Chapter 22.
"What do you mean "you was human"?" Asked Adam, as he stood up, "You was born like that...wasn't you?" That was what he assumed.
The creature stopped and thought. It was thinking of a way to explain his current form. After five minutes, five silent minutes, it looked up and began to explain.
"Many years before today. Humans lived." It spoke softly, but in a matter of fact tone, "They were numerous and strong. They built might homes and other such buildings. They were on top of the world."
The creature then began to sit on the floor and invited Adam to join him. Adam hesitated, for a moment, but then he sat down with the creature. He did not put his knife away.
"A war broke out among the people. The workers were on one side and the religious men were on the other. The workers were feeling, I guess you could say, side lined. They felt as if they were being treated like second class citizens." The creature turned to the trees and sighed, "The workers rose up and started a war. It was known as The Formation Wars. It lasted two years. It was awful. Men and women were injured or worse. Children were turned into soldiers, and the worst was yet to come."
Adam listened in shock. The war sounded devastating. On both sides. He knew no one would have got out of the war unscathed. He looked down in sorrow.
The creature continued, "I was a soldier in the war. It was during the end of the war when the religious folk, The Fountains of Faith, activated a weapon. It was known as the "Form Changer" and they unleashed it upon the world." It hesitated on the next part of it's story. But continued it anyway.
"The Form Changer was similar to a bomb. But it changed our DNA. Our very structure. We each reacted differently. Some grew bigger, some shorter, some hairier and others you wouldn't want to see. My name was John Steven Adams. I don't have that now." He then sighed heavily.
Adam sat in shock. He knew the war didn't happen in his time. But it happened in the future, or the past as it was now. He wondered what was the main cause of it, apart from separation. But one question hit him more than any other. And he had to ask it now.
"When did the war happen?
