Chapter 25.
The forest was large. Much larger than any forest Adam had ever been in. And far more dangerous. Bugs were crawling around upon the trees and logs. Birds were eating them. And various other animals were also eating, or being eaten.
Adam walked through the forest. He was scared but ready. His plan was to go to the temple and find answers. The possibility of finding dark truths was conceivable. He was afraid of what he may find and what that could mean for his future in his time. He also wondered if the events that had happened were set in stone or if they could be changed. At the moment it was impossible to say if it was or not, and even more impossible to find a way to test it.
Hours passed as he slowly made his way out the forest and up the hill. He had forgotten how steep the hill was. He also thought that it seemed a lot harder to walk up this time than it was before, maybe it was because he was focussed on other things.
Soon he made it to the temple. It stood exactly as it did before, but felt different. Maybe it had become familiar to him. Or maybe it was something else. He shrugged and entered.
"What the...?" He asked out loud as he entered. The walls and the floor was wrecked. Tiles were cracked and torn up from the floor. The walls were scratched and in even worse shape that before. The curtains were torn down and ripped apart like paper. He walked through the wreckage and wondered what could have caused this. Especially seen as he was only gone for one night.
He found the room with the table again. The table had been over turned and chopped in half. The rest of the room was ruined like the hallway. Like a group of spoiled children had wrecked the house after they could not get what they wanted.
Adam picked up a table leg and gripped it tight. Whatever happened here, there was a group of them. A single person could not have done this.
Suddenly, he wondered what had happened to Luna. Still holding the table leg he ran towards the tunnel where they lived. His heart was beating as he rushed to her. He hoped she was safe as he began to sweat with worry and fear. She couldn't defend herself, he hoped she was ok.
He found the tunnel and crawled under it with great speed, banging his head along the way. And eventually he made it to the other side.
He climbed out and witnessed something new.
