Talking Through Time

Part 26

Chapter 26.

 Blood. That was the first thing Adam saw as he exited the small tunnel behind him. Blood was all over the floors and the walls. It almost looked like paint. It was also dripping from the walls, it was fresh.

  He looked and saw the horror before him. Dead bodies lay upon the ground. The Angels had been killed. No they wasn't killed, that was too kind a word. They were ripped to shreds. The bodies were all torn up and thrown around like discarded dolls. Legs and arms were piled in to one corner, like a monument or a collection. The bodies were upon the table and bloodied. Almost as if they were tortured.

  Adam looked at the scene. He was shocked. He had never seen such brutality before in his life. He turned away from the horrible scene and proceeded to be sick on the floor. The scene was too much for him. He thought he would have been able to handle something like this, he was a man after all, but he puked. His knees began to shake as he did. A new sense of fear came over him as he wiped his mouth.

 He turned back and walked slowly towards the dead bodies. He began to wonder what kind of creature could have done something like this. It seemed obvious that it was a group of them, not one or two, and they were probably the ones involved in the destruction around the temple as well.

  "I don't know what to say about all this." He whispered to himself, as he tried to be logical and detached from the scene. The Angels were defenceless, that much was clear, and they were probably either outnumbered or outmatched. Probably both. Everyone was dead. The young and the old, the men and women and even the children had been killed. Slaughtered.

  But, Adam noticed one small detail amidst the dead bodies and the blood, he could not find Luna anywhere. Her body was not among the dead.

  But if she was not here, where was she? Did the killers take her? But why would they take her and no one else? It made no sense.
