Chapter 28.

"What do you mean they looked like me?" Asked Adam. He wanted an answer to this question.

"They looked like you!" The Leader repeated himself, stressing each word. He then elaborated on his answer, "They looked like you. Your body shape and your looks. They did not look like us. But they were closer to you." He wasn't sure how to describe what he saw. He had never seen a human person like Adam before.

Adam walked away slowly. Still in shock, confusion hit him. Many questions had come up again but right now he focused on one mission and one mission only: Find Luna. She was with these creatures. The ones who had murdered the Angels. He knew it wasn't an attack. It was a slaughter. Nothing more and nothing less. There was certainly nothing honourable about it either.

He crawled through the tunnel. He eventually got to the other side and climbed out. He walked down the corridor. He walked towards the other corridor where he saw that beast earlier. He got half way and then stopped. He fell to his knees again and was sick. He couldn't stop thinking about what he had just seen.

The blood and the bodies. The smell of fresh blood. The knowledge that they had been slaughtered. These things were etched into his mind forever. He knew he'd probably have nightmares of this for years. He also felt guilty. Before he had arrived the Angels were safe. Safer than they are now anyway. They did have to protect themselves from the beast, that large cat he saw, but at least they weren't ripped to shreds.

He wondered if it was a good idea to come here. To travel through time. He had learned that even he could make a difference. The future was not set in stone. He had changed what might have been He started to think that time travel wasn't as safe as he originally thought. For him or the inhabitants. What if he had brought viruses that the inhabitants of this time were unprepared for? He could have unknowingly murdered thousands. And what if the opposite applied, he brought back viruses to his time? The same result would apply.

He stood back up and slowly made his way forward. Wondering what would come next.
