Chapter 53.
Charles glared with great anger. His rage was very clear. His breathing became heavy and laboured. He gripped his sword with great force, turning his knuckles white. He then smiled. It wasn't a joyful smile. It was a furious smile of anger, rage and a dark form of pleasure. He was thinking of the thousand and one ways he could torture Adam.
Adam looked back. He looked a little scared. The face before him was unlike any he had seen. He had never seen rage directed to him. Not rage like that anyway. It was as if rage itself had found a physical form. He stood up, knife in hand. He had to survive. Nothing more and nothing less.
Charles charged ahead and slashed his sword wildly. Left and right, up and down. It didn't matter. He just wanted to cut his enemy. His sword cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. He swung his blade and caught Adam's jacket. He smiled. Adam looked at the large hole in his jacket. He quickly tried to think of a plan. Otherwise he'd end up like his jacket.
Suddenly, Adam came up with a small plan. It was a long shot. But it was better than no shot.
"Hey, Charles, what happened after the Formation Wars? You became a leader. How long have you been a leader for?" He asked, as he dodged another attack.
Charles looked up and replied, "Over a thousand years. Since that day i changed." His voice was still filled with anger, "I became a leader to control the people! Nothing more and nothing less!" Adam looked at him and smiled. He had the chance to strike.
"Not a very good leader are you. I think your people are in a worse state now than they were before the wars." He said, tauntingly. Adam laughed a little.
Charles screamed out in rage and rushed forward, his sword pointing directly ahead. He was blinded by rage. Adam quickly saw his chance and took of his jacket and held it out, like a matador. Charles rushed forward and his head was stuck in the newly made hole. He looked back in shock. Adam saw his moment and, in one swift motion, plunged his knife into Charles' skull. It went in deeply and made a squishy noise. It pierced his skull with great force.
Charles fell to the floor. Blood pouring from his head. The knife protruding from his skull. He lay on the floor, motionless and dead.
Adam sighed with relief. He had won.
