Chapter 51.

Adam ran back down the tunnel. He had to try make some kind of plan. He had to find a way how to take down the leader of the underground menace. He thought maybe he could just do a sneak attack, but that wouldn't help. He had to try somehow humiliate him. Knock his ego down a bit.

"That sounds like a good plan." Adam said to himself, "Or at least a good first phase. It's probably more of an outline really, isn't it?" He started to ramble. Rambling was dangerous. Especially in this situation.

He got to the end of the tunnel and stopped. He slowly, but carefully, creeped forward. His heart began to pound. He was scared. Even after the events of the last two days, he could still be afraid. Hiding behind some rocks, he peeked out around the corner. He saw what he was expecting.

The villagers were still searching the area. They seemed to be getting grumpier and, clearly, more frustrated with every passing second. "Where is this intruder?!" shouted one villager, as she punched a wall in anger. Another villager did the same, and then everyone else copied. Over fifty different fists punched a different wall in anger. The cave began to shake a little, and some rubble fell down on to the cold hard ground.

Adam gulped loudly. He knew he did not want to get hit by any of them. He would probably die from the impact. He was clearly much weaker than them. And with that, he creeped slowly passed them.

Adam ran down the cave tunnels. Making turns left and right. He was mostly guessing as to where he wanted to go. Or where he needed to go.

Suddenly, and with great speed, he came across a door. It was large, about twelve feet high, and made of some kind of metal. It was carved with strange symbols, one of them was clearly an hourglass. The metal was of a light blue colour, and cold to the touch. Adam guessed this might be where the leader was. A strange mixture of emotions swirled in him. It was a mixture of fear, anger, joy and wonderment. He nodded to himself and opened the door. His destiny awaited before him.
