Chapter 41.

The guards turned around in surprise. They was not expecting Adam to escape. They had forgotten to lock the door behind them and, for the moment, they felt stupid. But they were going to eliminate him. No one escapes their watch. No one escapes alive anyway.

"We will kill you. Make no mistake." One of the guards said, as he readied his sword. The other guard did the same. Adam was both outnumbered and outmatched. Two enemies with swords and he was one man with a simple knife. He knew he had to use his brain to get him out of this one. Strength was not going to help, but strategy would. He had to try outsmart his enemies, move into a suitable position, and then strike. Show no mercy because, after all, they wouldn't show any mercy on him.

"Ok, i have to get behind them. Best chance of attacking them. Hopefully" Adam thought to himself. He didn't feel very confident with his plan. He knew what he had to do, just not how he was going to do it. He had a very vague plan in his head. Which was better than no plan at all.

The guards rushed at Adam. The first guard slashed his sword horizontally, trying to cut Adam's chest open. Adam dodged it. The second guard thrust his sword at Adam's back from behind but he missed his target, by inches. Adam then jumped to the right and swung his knife at a guard. The blade caught one of them on the face and cut their eye. A slash would appeared. Fortunately they did not lose an eye.

The second guard swung his blade to try kill his target. The sword was still very sharp and shiny. It swung vertically, but again missed. He hit the wall and made a large clang noise.

Adam laughed. He wasn't winning, but he wasn't losing either. The battle had only just begun.
