Talking Through Time

Part 49

Chapter 49.

 Adam held Luna upon his back. She lay her head on his shoulder and she held on to him as tightly as she possibly could. She looked like a small child. Adam thought she looked his neice, Sarah. He exited the door and looked at the spikes again. It had been about 5 minutes since he had deatl with them, and now he had to deal with them again. This time with a passenger.

  "Ok, Luna, i want you to listen to me." He spoke, softly, "Hold on to me, ok? And whatever you do, do not let go. And do not look down either."

  Luna tightened her grip a bit more and closed her eyes, "Ok, i'll do what you said. But are we going to survive?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

  Adam nodded, "We'll be fine. We'll make it out alive. I promise." He then sighed heavily. He mentally, and physically, prepared himself for the jump. One wrong move and he, or Luna, could die. Maybe even both.

  He ran and jumped. He held his arms out like before. It felt harder this time, as his arms wouldn't reach out as far as before. He thought that was probably because he had someone holding on to him. His hands grabbed the rope. His leg just barely missed one of the spikes. He sighed with relief and prepared for the second part. He swung a couple times, to get the momentum going, and he then he jumped off. He leapt over the spikes and landed on the hard floor in front of him. The impact was much harder this time. He was much heavier. A tingling sensation ran through his legs.

   He smiled. He'd got out of that small situation in one piece. "Phase one complete." He thought to himself. He then ran down the hall and made it to the corner. He looked left and right. No guards. He was safe. For now. He ran down the same direction as he came from, eventually passing his prison from before. He soon made it to the village. He stopped and hid behind a rock.

  The villagers were roaming the streets. They were looking for him.
