Chapter 24.

A new dawn approached as Adam climbed out of bed. He was on his third day in this new world. That was a frightening thought for him. He wondered what his friends were doing, if they even noticed he was gone. Or even if they knew he was gone in the first place. For all he knew a day here could be an hour there or something. He still wasn't sure how time travel actually worked.

He walked over to the cupboard and got a tin of food. It was still fresh and edible. They were a tin of fruit of some kind, another unknown. The tin was rounded and made of some kind of metal, smooth but sturdy, and the tin was covered in a kind of paper. The brand on the side was "Harver's Fruits". Adam opened the tin and grabbed a fork from one of the cupboards. He then looked in some of the other cupboards for some other food. He discovered a tin of fresh meat, which tasted like pork, and a fresh bottle of blue water.

He sat down for his "breakfast" and sighed heavily. The meal was ok but not as satisfactory as the stuff he yearned for. He really wanted food like he had back home. He wanted things such as burgers, chips, mash potato, seafood, chocolate, sweet corn and bean sprouts. All his favourite food and none of that he could find here. He was eating what he called "rabbit food" in this future world. He missed his world.

A sense of melancholy fell over him. What if he never got back to his time? What if he could never find his way back, due to time travel? He was starting to feel homesick.

"Maybe I should just go home. Leave now and never come back." He said to himself, as he took a bite out of the meat. Maybe he should, after all, no one would miss him here. He didn't have any friends or family here that would be upset by him leaving. No one cared for him here.

  No one except Luna.

She was the first one to care for him and, just maybe, the only one who will. He thought about her. He wondered if she was ok, if she was safe. She must have been safe in that hole and that room where her and the others lived. So, she was safe.

But he couldn't shake the feeling that she might be in danger. Or may end up in danger, because of him leaving without telling her.

He decided to stay. To find answers and to find her.
