Chapter 29.
Adam was surprised at everything he had learned today. Darkness had befallen the land and it was his fault. He had never intended to cause any trouble. He wanted to travel through time on an adventure. To learn new ways of life and new things in general. He never wanted people to get murdered just because he showed up one day. All he wanted was an adventure.
But he was naïve. Even if he travelled backwards in time. In to the 1800's, for example, it wouldn't matter at all. They would have had lives, to them it would just be another day in their average lives. And even when he left they would still carry on as they did. They would still live, argue, love, eat, drink and die. Like they had before and like they would after he left. All of that was the same even in the future. And he had arrived and had an effect upon the world. A negative one.
But he had to carry on. Luna was in danger, because of him, and he had to save her. She was the first, and probably only, friend he had in this whole world. And he felt it was a duty. He had to save her after getting her into this mess. And, if for one moment, he could do something good in this time then he would be pleased with himself. He would have made a good difference in this world.
He stood up and continued through the tunnel. Slowly making his way to that hole in the wall he saw earlier. That was the only entrance he knew of that led to the underground. What he would find there he did not know. And he certainly didn't know what he was going to do when he got there either.
"What if they try to attack me?" He thought to himself, as he made his way forward, "I'll be outnumbered and they will have the home field advantage. They'll know the underground better than I will. It's where they live after all. And once I get down there, what do I do? How will I go about saving Luna?"
As he was trying to think of a solution to his current problem, he heard a loud roar. He stopped and held his knife tightly in his hand. He looked around but saw nothing. Until he saw it. The beast from earlier. The big cat like creature. It came out of the hole that lead underground. It looked at him, and unfortunately, it looked hungry.
It roared and pounced. It was ready to kill him.
