Chapter 27.

Adam looked at the room once more. He tried to get into the mind of whoever did this. But it proved impossible. He could get a general idea but nothing specific.

He turned and headed towards the tunnel when he heard a noise behind him. He turned towards the noise, knife in hand, and waited. His body was tense. Anything could happen.

A part of the wall slid open and The Leader fell out. Adam rushed towards him and caught him as he fell. The Leader was bloody, but alive. He had scratch marks upon him, his left eye had been scratched out. It was horrible.

"Are you ok?" Shouted Adam, as he looked at the injured Angel in his arms, "Answer me, please!" He was desperate for some kind of answer. Anything would do.

The Leader opened his eyes and quickly pushed himself away from Adam. He was severely injured. The Leader suddenly looked up at him and glared. Pure hatred and anger were within those eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Snarled the Leader. He spat some blood out of his mouth, "I thought I told you to leave!"

"I know. But I wanted to come back and find answers." He replied, "But what happened here? Who did this?"

The Leader, still glaring at Adam, pointed to the pile of dead bodies. They were fresh bodies ripped apart one by one. No mercy was shown to them.

"You did this. It was all you!" The leader spoke, pointing his finger at Adam's chest. Rage filled his every word from this point onward. Every syllable was filled with hatred.

Adam looked on in confusion. He wasn't here when this happened.

"What do you mean? I didn't do any of this! I wasn't here."

The Leader began his explanation, "But you arrived here. You went near one of the dark holes, didn't you. Luna told us! They knew about you and about us. How we were vulnerable! They came here and killed us. They took a few of us alive, for now. They intend to eat us." He slammed his fist in to the ground in anger.

Adam looked downward at the floor. A small sense of guilt had come over him. He replied, "I didn't mean any of this to happen. I didn't mean to go near the hole. But I want to know...who are you talking about? Who did this?" He wanted to know.

"We don't know. We had never seen them before." The Leader replied, "But, and here's another reason why I am blaming you: They looked like you do."
