Chapter Forty-Eight

Hindi mapakali si Raven sa labas ng labor room. He's just composing himself, hindi pwedeng maging siya ay mukhang natataranta. His wife needs him!

But nobody could ever prepare him with this experience. Seeing how Abby says she's fine even when she's not. Halos mabali na nito ang kamay niya kanina nang makaramdam ng contractions.

"Raven, hijo... Where's Abby?" It's Nanay Soledad. Yup, he calls her that way. Since Abby is more comfortable with that endearment, they settled with that. "How's my daughter?"

"Nasa loob po kasama ni Mommy." As if on cue, his mother went out, "My, how's her?"

"It's getting harder, Anak." She honestly said, "She's been looking for you. Are you already okay? You need to be strong for you wife, Raven."

"Can I see her?"

"Oo naman, Balae." His mother smiled, "Ikaw na muna ang mauna. Namumutla pa itong isa."

"Thank you,"

Naiwan silang mag-ina sa labas. Ngumiti ito sa kanya at tinapik siya sa balikat, "Your wife can do this, Raven." She said, "Malakas si Abby, okay?"

"I... I just can't imagine..." He sighed deeply, "How did you do it, My? Anim kami. I thought pregnancy is hard but giving birth is..."

"Anak, every pregnancy is a different journey. But, I can assure you that, it was all worth it." She lovingly smiled, "I didn't have a hard time giving birth. Kaya nga siguro hindi rin ako natakot magbuntis. Pinakamahirap na iyong sa kambal, pero kayong apat? It was smooth."

"Hindi kinabahan si Dad o si Papa?"

"Kinabahan naman." She said, "Of course, there's post partum. Pero pareho akong inalagaan ng Dad at Papa mo. They were so patient with me... Syempre iba iyong sa kambal dahil mas settled naman kami ng Papa mo compared doon sa buhay na mayroon kami ng Dad mo before, but nevertheless, they took care of me while I was busy taking care of you and your siblings."

His mother tilted his chin up, "Anak, hindi pa ito ang pinakamahirap. Kaya huminga ka nang malalim, huwag magtiwala sa sariling lakas. Always ask it from the One who supplies it. You will be okay..."

"Thank you, My."

"Pumasok ka na. Your wife needs you. Both of them need you."

Naabutan ni Raven si Abby na nakayakap sa ina, namimilipit pa rin ito sa sakit. When Nanay saw him, she extended her arm to him, "Abby, your husband is here."

"Raven..." Nagpalit na sila ni Nanay ng posisyon, sa kanya na nakahawak si Abby. Malamig ang mga palad nito, "Are you okay? I'm fine..."

Ito pa talaga ang nangumusta sa kanya, "I am okay, Baby. I am just so proud of you..." He said, "You know that right? I am so —" Napadaing si Abby ulit. He also groaned in pain by her grip, "I'm here, Baby..."

"Ang sakit, Raven..." She cried, "I'm so weak... Dapat nagexercise ako... Ang hina hina ko—"

"Baby, are you kidding me? Ikaw, mahina?" He supported her back, "You've been here for 6 hours! Ngayon mo lang sinabi na masakit. Kung ako iyan, baka 5 minutes lang nagrereklamo na ako..."

"Raven naman..."

He kissed her temples, "I'm here..."

Tumagal pa ng 1 oras bago bumalik ang OB at sabihin na 10 CM na si Abby. They transferred her to the delivery room, hindi niya iniwan si Abby doon ng magisa.  Her mother also joined them, silang dalawa ang nasa loob para umalalay rito.

It wasn't allowed but maybe God made a way so that he can witness it. He can witness what only a woman can do. This is a miracle from God through women.
