FERRIS WHEEL

One of my biggest fears were heights.
You convinced me to go on, despite my wishes,
But that was the beginning of it.
I wept as each gear jolted us higher up.
Each swing made my stomach drop,
And you'd try to calm me down.
All our friends heard yells and frantic panicking, then a silence.
I'll never forget.
"Look at me."
Somehow, everything stopped.
My breathing regulated, and my stomach resurfaced.
Hazel.
Her eyes were hazel.
I never thought to look so closely till then.
It was weird.
I had only known you for a couple weeks,
But in that moment,
I had known you for a couple years.
You smiled as if you knew what i had thought.
"You're okay."
Then I quickly broke our stare.
We were in the sky.
"We're in fucking sky!" I laughed.
I had never looked at the sky that close before.
All the stars, the moon's craters, all of it.
We sat like that for a good ten seconds before you jerked the seat accidentally and I yelled at you.
I'd never ride one again,
but I loved the Ferris Wheel.

I realized later that getting me to sit with you on the ferris wheel was probably your intention that entire night, but thats okay.
