Celina's POV
4 years later...
I tried to catch my breath when I hopped out of the water.
"You have to stay in there longer!" Philip said while holding his pocket watch.
"Again!" he demanded but Emily walked in.
"Give her a rest Philip, she's only ten and you expect her to do all the things that you demand." She said while she wrapped a towel around my shoulder.
I smiled and thanked her. Philip didn't say a word. He just sighed and walked away, again. I was finally able to rest. I dried myself with the towel that Emily brought and drank the hot milk that she gave.
"Thank you." I said when I felt relaxed.
"You know that you don't have to push yourself right?" She asked with her worried voice.
I shook my head and gave her the empty glass.
"Even though I don't understand why Philip is making me do these things, I just get the feeling that I just have to do everything that he says." I sighed.
She sat next to me patted my back.
"He just doesn't want you to be powerless when the time comes." I still don't understand it.
What are they all saying? What am I getting ready for? If it means something, what I'm doing is training, but for what? Training is for something like a battle. Are they sending me to battle? But I'm still a kid.
"What am I training for, Emily?" I said without any interest in my voice.
She was quiet for a second but then she spoke up.
"Philip has many enemies." I crossed my eyebrow.
"What does that have to do with me?" I asked but she laughed and patted the top of my head.
"He's just worried that something might happen to you, so he's preparing you so that when you have to fight, you can." She said.
I sighed and held the towel tighter.
"But I don't think that I'm capable of doing the things that he asks." I laid down on the grass and closed my eyes.
"He doesn't even praise me for all my hard work. He wants me to stay under the water for more than a minute but I can't do that! I've managed to do half a minute but he was still disappointed in me. He wants me to learn how to use a sword but I can't even hold it right, I can't even lift it!" I exclaimed which made her laugh.
"When you were still a little girl...uh... well... littler." She giggled but I just glared at her.
"You didn't let little things get to you, you said that you don't have to be sad just by the things that are happening so instead you make yourself happy by the things that makes you happy." She said.
"You don't just easily give up Alexa, you fought for the things that you wanted. You are strong."
But I don't want to be strong. I just want to live the life of a normal girl. A normal girl wouldn't do these things. A normal girl shouldn't even hold a sword!
"You know Alexa." Emily smiled. "Even though you changed, you're still the same." How does that work?
I opened my eyes and looked at Emily, she was smiling warmly at me.
"Don't ever give up." She held my hand and looked into my eyes.
"Work harder. Work harder until you earn Philip's praise, okay?" I smiled and nodded.
"I will!"
