Chapter 37 - In The Waking World

Celina's POV

"What do you want from me exactly?" I asked nightmare while we both hover in the air and in the endless void.

She laughed. "I want the world."

I looked at her and rolled my eyes. "You can't even get out of here so how could you possibly get what you want." I scoffed.

She floated in front of me in a blink of an eye and looked straight into my eyes. Her eyes started to glow. "I'll get what I want." She said and a few seconds later the light from her eyes lit up the whole void and blinded me.

I finally opened my eyes and saw that I was in my room.

I looked around and saw Cyrus and Thana in each other's arms.

I groaned and face slapped my self. "Can you please do that in a different room? Try not to disgust me when you're the first thing that I'm going to see when I wake up." I said which made them immediately turn their heads. I looked at them with my eyebrows crossed. "What?" I asked and made both of them gasp.

Cyrus ran towards my dresser and searched for something. A few seconds later he ran towards me and handed me a mirror.

I reached for it and eyed him. "How did you possibly know that I had a mirror in there?" I asked in a humorous manner but I could tell that they weren't in the mood to laugh with me.

They both stood there quietly while they stared at me.

"What are you two looking at?" I asked but Thana pointed at the mirror.
I rolled my eyes with irritation on why can't they just tell me what's wrong.

"That's because if they did, you wouldn't believe them." A voice in my head spoke.

My eyes widen. I almost dropped the mirror but I wasn't going to let that happen.

While my hands shook, I slowly leveled the mirror to my face and slowly opened my eyes.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" The voice laughed inside my head while my whole body shook.

It was turquoise.

"Cyrus..." I breathed and finally dropped the mirror.

Before the mirror could fall on to the floor he caught it and held me in his arms.

"Take it." He reached the mirror out to Thana which she took it from his hands and held it on her chest.

My breathing hitched. "Cyrus, what's wrong with me?" I asked and panicked.

He hushed and hushed until I calmed down.

Is this what the nightmare said when she can get anything she wants? By turning into me?

"Everything will be alright." He hushed and held me tighter. He rubbed circles around my back and kept hushing me.

I closed my eyes and took in deep breaths. Soon enough, I was calmed down.

I pulled away from Cyrus but I kept my eyes closed.

He held both of my arms and squeezed it.

"Let me see it." He demanded but I didn't have the courage to look at myself and see a different person.

I shook my head. "I don't want to." I said which made him sigh.

"Just open it Celina." He said.

I took a deep breath and slowly opened my eyes.

He stared into my eyes a couple of seconds before sighing.

He looked at Thana and reached his hand out, indicating that he wanted the mirror back.

Thana, who was still speechless, gave the mirror without a word.

Cyrus took it and gave it to me. "Look." He said.

I shook my head and closed my eyes.

I don't want to see myself anymore.

I heard him sigh and felt his hand on to mine.

"I promise you that it will be alright." He said.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw his gentle smile.

"Now, here." He said and lifted it up to my face.

I sighed in relief. "It's sapphire blue." I said and smiled.

He lowered the mirror and smiled. "Told you." He said and chuckled.

I pouted and tackled him into a hug. "I hate you!" I exclaimed which made him stiffen. "I'm just kidding." I laughed but he didn't laugh with me.

He sat us both up and sighed.

I knew exactly what he was going to say.

Before he could speak, I held my forefinger on his lips and shushed him. The expression on his face was priceless when I did it. Both of his eyebrows where shot up and his eyes widen with surprise.

"I know what you're going to say." I said which made him cross both if his eyebrows. "It's not your fault. I disobeyed you all and went after you. I didn't want anything to happen to Thana so I wanted to be there for her, but I didn't control myself when I jumped out and screamed, if I wouldn't, then you would have been able to finish the ritual." I said and looked down. "I've caused trouble for all of you, if there's anyone to apologize, it would be me."

Cyrus shook his head and took my hands into his. "You don't have to blame yourself either. I should've been there to assure you that nothing bad will happen to Thana, but I let Aunt Casey and Grandmother handle you on their own, I should've been there for you." He said and brushed his thumb across my cheek. He smiled and took a deep breath. "How about we forget whose fault it is since we both apologized to each other and stop blaming ourselves for it?" He said which made me smile.

I jumped at him again and hugged him while we both laughed, but we forgot something.

Thana cleared her throat which made us stop.

I sat up and smiled at her.

"I'm glad that you're alright." She said with her head lowered.

I smiled and reached my hand out. "Come here!" I laughed. She smiled widely and gladly accepted my hand. I pulled her into a hug and we both kept on laughing. As soon as we pulled away from each other, she apologized.

"There's nothing to be sorry for, it's all over." I said while I held her hand. "I'm just glad that you weren't hurt." I said which made her shake her head.

"It's all because of your mother, she saved me." She smiled proudly. "She didn't just save me, she saved the lives of the others as well, I owe her my life." She said which made me smile.

Cyrus cleared his throat and walked over to Thana. They both held each other's arms while they looked into each other's eyes.

"Okay, a few days ago you were arguing like you were born to argue with each other. And now, the first thing that I wake up to is you two holding each other, can I get an explanation here?" I asked with an eyebrow shot up.

They both laughed at each other and broke apart.

Cyrus walked towards me and smiled. "She's going to be your sister by law, she's my mate."

My eyes widen and my smile reached from ear to ear. "Holy fudge..." I breathed.

Cyrus chuckled and reached for Thana, Cyrus transferred her hand into mine. She was speechless but I couldn't tell how happy she was about them.

"I'm so happy for the both of you." I smiled and reached in to hug her. "I never thought that what I said in the garden would be true." I said which made her giggle.

"I'm just as surprise as you are." She said and pulled away.

Her smile never left her, she kept smiling and laughing.

I could tell that they'll both make each other happy.

"I don't want to ruin anything here but aren't we supposed to sense our mates when we turn eighteen? So why didn't you sense her when you did?" I asked which made them both looked at each other.

They didn't know the answer themselves, but I know someone who will.

"It's because of the nightmare that lived within her." I heard someone said.

I looked at the door and saw Mom leaning against it.

I smiled at her which made her smile back.

"What do you mean?" Thana asked while Mom made her way towards us.

Mom smiled and walked closer to her. "It's because the nightmare blocked everything that may affect you. It's like how you blocked your emotions from others. The nightmare has been blocking Cyrus' sense as soon as she was able to surface from deep within you. Cyrus knows you're there but he wasn't able to tell the difference between you and others." She said and looked at Cyrus.

"But Uncle Aiden said that Cyrus already saw me when the nightmare was extracted from me." Thana said which made Mom sigh.

She looked at Cyrus again. "He was preoccupied with some other things so that's why he didn't notice you that time and the other times along with it." She said which made Cyrus chuckle and rub the back of his neck. Mom clicked her tongue a couple of times while she shook her head.

As soon as she was finished eyeing my brother, she looked at Thana and smiled. She opened her arms and hugged her. "Welcome to the family." She said which made Thana smile and hug her back.

"Thank you so much." She said with all her might.

She pulled away and looked at me.

"Now, what happened to you?" She said with a more serious look.

"I guess I'm in trouble for sneaking off." I said with a laugh at the end but Cyrus kept his smug look.

I rolled my eyes at his while my mother scolded me for what I did.

"But enough of that." She said and hugged me. "I'm glad that nothing terrible has happened to you." She said while she hugged me tightly.

Cyrus cleared his throat which made Mom pull away and look at him.

"Something kind of happened." He said weakly.
