Chapter 17 - Smile

Celina's POV

"It's nice to meet you!" Astrid held my hand and hugged me tightly. I smiled awkwardly and laughed.

"Sorry for dropping by without any notice." She said when she pulled back. I shook my head and smiled.

"It's nothing! Sorry if I got the wrong idea earlier! I didn't know that Shawn has a sister. I thought that he was the only child!" I laughed, she laughed with me. Good thing that she's so nice. Great! Now I feel bad for doing what I did.

"Father was supposed to be the one to visit but he was too occupied with his work so I asked him if I could visit instead. Plus, I miss my big brother of course!" She said with a big smile and a giggle at the end which made me feel worse.

They haven't been together for a long time and I dragged him away like that earlier. How stupid, really. Shawn cleared his throat and chuckled.

"There's one thing that Astrid wants to ask of you, she's been bugging me since she got here." I raised my eyebrow and titled my head.

"What is it?" I asked Astrid.

I was shocked when I saw her blushing while cupping both of her cheek with her hands. Seriously, what is it? I laughed and waited for her to gather her courage and speak up. 

"Will you be my big sister?" She said and hid her face with her hands.

What? Shawn sighed and decided to explain it himself.

"Astrid here isn't really contented with me being her big brother and all, she really wanted to have a big sister so when she learned that I was friends with you from Father, she decided to come here to meet you, missing me was just an excuse, she really wanted to be friends with you." He finished with a sigh. I giggled and smiled at Astrid.

"It will be a pleasure!" I stated which made her come running towards me and hugged me.

I've never seen anyone this happy before.

"She's really happy, isn't she?" I smiled while Shawn and I were walking.

"But I can see that she's weak." I frowned.

Shawn nodded and sighed.

"Ever since she was little, she got sick very often, Mom was the only one who knew what to do with her, so when Mother died, Father was the one who has to take care of her, but Father doesn't have a clue how to deal with her sickness, Astrid wasn't cared for like how Mother took care of her when she was still alive. Astrid's health stabilized but when she exceeds herself in physical activities, she gets sick afterwards. Meeting you was too much for her, she got too excited that's why she caught a fever." Shawn chuckled.

"But I have a favor to ask." He said then he stopped walking.

I turned around and looked at him. I saw full sincerity and sadness.

"What is it?" I asked. He took a deep breath and looked at me.

"Please let her stay here." He stated. But it's not my decision.

Philip is the one who gets to decide whether someone gets to stay or not.

"Please." He begged.

I sighed and nodded.

"I will do what I can." He smiled widely and hugged me.

"Thank you so much!" He cheered while hugging me and lifting my feet off the ground making me let out a small squeal.

He spins me around for a couple of times while we laughed and finally stopped while still smiling. We opened our eyes only to see each other's face close to another. My face turned red and so did his. He quickly lets go of me and rubbed the back of his head. He took a deep breath and sighed. 

"Thank you." He said and I gave him a nod. 

"I better go to Philip's office to discuss Astrid's stay. I'll let you know what he'll say afterwards." I said and made my way towards Philip's office, still smiling.
