Cyrus' POV
I wanted to shake her awake and demand to know who this Shawn person is. I crossed my eyebrows and formed a fist while I shook irritably. I wanted to know who he is but I didn't want her to remember that place.
For all I know, I'm forever haunted by the thought of his real identity.
I shook my head and buried both of my hands on both pockets. Thinking about this Shawn guy made me feel uncomfortable. She never mentioned anything about this Shawn but yet here she is mumbling his name in her sleep.
One thing's for sure. I won't be able to do my work if I don't concentrate. Aside from protecting my sister, I, even as a prince, have chores to do. Well, it's more like a duty that I must do daily.
I brushed my hand on my face and sighed.
I'll wait till Celina feels like telling me what happened to her in that place, but for now, I don't think that I should force her into telling me the truth. I smiled weakly at her sleeping figure and just reminisced all our moments when she used to call me names and tease me like how a little sister should do, but was I born first or was she... but! Nevertheless, I should just protect her like how a big brother protects his younger sister.
I turned around and started to walk towards the door, still processing all the events that happened before and after she arrived. I still couldn't believe all the drama that I went through but I shouldn't complain since that they all suffered longer than me.
I grabbed the handle and turned it, pulling it open and so I went outside. I slowly closed the door and made sure that I didn't wake her up. I sighed and turned around.
I leaned against the door while I rested my tired body and my mind. Still, I shouldn't complain since that Celina's going through something more important than going around the palace making sure that my daily task is complete.
I turned my head to my left and saw the most beautiful girl that I failed to notice for those couple of years.
I smiled and walked towards her. "Why are you here?" I said while I inched towards her, pulling her into my arms when I got close enough.
She giggled and wrapped her arms around me, burying her face onto my chest. "I came to see her." She said which made me sigh with pain.
"So you didn't come here to see me..." I breathed which made her laugh.
She pulled back and looked straight into my eyes. "No matter what the reason is, I am here and so are you." She said and smiled. She got on her toes and pressed her forehead against mine, making sure that there wasn't any other contact than that.
We both smiled and pulled back. "You can go see her but she's still asleep." I said. I don't to make her worry about her. Ever since that day, she's been blaming herself but we all know who to blame for this one.
She pouted and looked down. "I wanted to chat with her even for just a bit." She said which made me chuckle.
I pulled her into another lingering hug before pulling away. "You can go and see mom." I said hoping to cheer her up a bit but it didn't seem to work. "She likes your company, all she does is ask when you will be coming over to visit, she doesn't even want us to train anymore, she just wants us to have some time together and get to know one another better."
"You do know that we can get to know each other better on the battle field right?" She said with an eyebrow shot up.
I laughed and kissed her forehead. "That was her saying that she wants you two to have some time together and get to know each other better." I said which made her blush. "She really likes you, all of them does, especially Celina."
She smiled. "We have all the time in the world for me to know your family, I've been training with most of them for years, I think I can manage with spending some time with your mom." She said. She linked her arm with mine which made all my troubles disappear. I still can't believe that the girl who used to annoy me would turn out to be the one who could comfort me and could make me forget about the thoughts that has been running in my mind. "What's for today's list?" She laughed when she mocked me.
I rolled my eyes and chuckled. "The barracks." I said. "I need last night's report." She nodded and started dragging me towards it. I let out a breath at the strength that I didn't know she had. I guess she was holding back when she was training with me back then. And I could only imagine what made her hold back. Remembering the blank expression on her face while we trained used to tick me off, I thought that she wasn't taking the training seriously, but looking back at it now, makes me want to go back in time and punch myself, screaming about how I'm making a big mistake.
I looked at her and saw how happy she was. She gave a bright smile that I only saw for the first time, her smile only indicated one thing; how truly happy she was. I couldn't help but smile at her expression. She's more energetic than before. Now, she can show the real her without hesitation.
It was only a matter of time until we reached the barracks. Seeing how happy she was made me forget that we were going there in the first place.
I opened the door and noticed that most of them are in panic.
All of them were running in one direction. They circled around something that I couldn't see.
I looked at Thana and motioned to stay out, but she shook her said saying that she wanted to come with me. I didn't have a choice but at the same time I wasn't worried about anything, Thana's stronger than these soldier so rather than saying that she should watch out, it's them who should watch out for her.
I pushed myself into the crowd while Thana tailed me. I was able to reach the center where it shocked me. A man sat down while he cringed at the pain. Mom was there pushing a fabric on his arm.
"Mom what happened?" I asked while I stepped a bit closer.
Mom turned her head towards me. "He was at his post when the others heard him screamed. They all rushed over and saw that blood was pouring out of his arm." She said and removed the cloth to show it to me. It made my eyes widen. The cut was where Celina was supposed to have on her arm. Blood started to come out so Mom pushed the fabric again making the man cry out in pain. "No one saw what happened. They said that the cut came out of nowhere. The armor didn't even have a single scratch on it." She said with a confused look. "But don't worry. Elena is already on her way here." She looked at me and smiled.
I nodded as a response and turned my head to Thana. She looked at him with worry, to tell you the truth, I wasn't quite happy with it. But I know that she was worried in a good way and that I have nothing to be jealous of.
Or is there?
I groaned and shuffled my hair with frustration earning a more worried look from my mate. I laughed awkwardly and held her hand.
"Do you want to leave?" I asked but she shook her head in refusal. She smiled weakly and tightened her grip.
"I'm alright." She said softly.
The door suddenly flung open and the soldiers immediately formed a path for the former queen. They all bowed their heads with respect.
"Why didn't they do that when we came in?" I spat.
Thana giggled. "It's because seeing you was a normal everyday life for them, they got used to having you around them." She said which made sense. I didn't really have an issue there. I didn't really mind since that I got along with few of them since I started coming here for their reports.
Grandmother quickly ran towards us, giving a quick smile to Thana and turned her head immediately towards the wounded man.
She nodded at mom to tell her that it's alright to let go now, and so she did.
Mom backed away giving Grandmother plenty of space to work in. In my opinion she didn't really needed that space to work in, she just didn't want to be disturbed while she used her power.
"It's alright." She hushed to the man and held his arm, covering his wound with the palm of her hand.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath while the room unexpectedly became silent. Well, they don't usually see Grandmother use her power very often. Her hands started to form a faint light that slowly lit brighter. As it brightens, the man's expression became softer and softer. When it reached its final glow, it started to go out. Grandmother slowly opened her eyes and removed her hand. She took a wet cloth and wiped the man's arm, revealing a woundless one.
"Thank you." He breathed before he fainted. Luckily one of the guards caught him just in time.
Grandmother smiled as the rest cheered.
The rest took him to his quarter as Grandmother ordered few of them to take the day of and watch over him, she said that he needs to rest since that he lost a lot of blood.
I was still left thinking on how Celina managed to make her wounds disappear at the same time wound a man in full armor. I have never been so confused in my whole life.
While we walked towards the palace I held her hand and smiled at her, earning a confused look. She blushed when she remembered that we were with my Mom and Grandmother. She nervously shifted and kept tightening her grip.
I chuckled at her gestures and called out to Mom. She looked back with a full smile. I literally saw her skipping while she made her way towards us. She smirked when she saw me holding Thana's hand which made Thana go bright red.
"Mom since you kept bugging me for some bonding time with Thana..." I said and titled my head towards Thana which made Mom smile wide.
I didn't have to continue my sentence. She already knew what I had in mind. She gladly jumped within a mere second and linked her arm with Thana. I almost laughed at Mom when she showed me a childish side of her.
I leaned towards my mate's ear and smiled. "I just need to finish the rest of my tasks; you go ahead and spend some time with Mom since she's been dying to spend time with you." I said and smiled.
She gave me an excited smile and with that, Mom pulled her excitedly towards the palace. I watched them giggled and squealed along with grandmother who didn't seem to mind their ages with what they were currently doing. I chuckled while they disappeared from my sight.
**
A few moments ago before I continued writing this chapter, I decided to read the first chapters of this book. With just reading the first sentence I got bored. Admit it or not it was poorly written. It's kind of funny since I'm just criticizing my own work but it was just awful. There wasn't much details in it. Only feelings, facial expressions and thoughts. I almost cringed hahaha. But rest assured, after I finish this book, I might edit a few chapters before I start making another one.
Let me hear your thoughts!
Hearing from you guys actually makes me feel passionate about the story that I write. It gives me a boost to think of new ideas for new chapters. I even had to re-enact a few gestures that I wanted to put into details just for the chapter and information in it to be understandable and can let you imagine it fully.
