Chapter 19 - Falling In Love

Alexa's POV

A few months have passed and training has been really tough. Shawn would watch while I train and Astrid cheers for me whenever I feel like giving up. After training, Emily would bring me snacks and a towel.

"You're doing great!" Emily stated after she gave me a towel. I sighed.

"Thanks, but I don't think that I'm strong yet."

"Hush hush! You're stronger than you were before! Philip just doesn't see it, but you know how stone hearted that jerk is!" She stated without knowing that Philip is behind her

He cleared his throat.

"Who's the stone hearted jerk?" He clenched his fists making Emily laugh nervously.

"Come here!" he dragged Emily away to who-knows-where.

I laughed while I wiped my sweat away.

"Are you alright?" Astrid came up to me with a worried look.

"I'm sorry." She said which confused me.

I shot an eyebrow up.

"What? You didn't do anything wrong." I stated but she shook her head.

"Philip is giving you a hard time because you pleaded for him to let me stay here. Sorry for making a selfish request. I understand if I am a burden to you." She politely said which made me feel awful.

I made her feel guilty. I hugged her and smiled.

"I pleaded because I wanted you to be here. You're not being selfish so don't say that, okay?" I said which made her smile and nod.

"Thank you so much." She smiled and hugged me.

Shawn cleared his throat.

"Astrid, I think Luna needs to rest, you saw how her training went and I think that you know that her body must hurt." He stated which made Astrid pulled away quickly and apologized as quick as she could.

I laughed and glared at Shawn. He sighed and smiled.

"Let's go in?" I asked Astrid which she responded with a nod.

While we were walking along the hallway Astrid held on to my arm and smiled.

"What is it?" I asked with a smile.

She shook her head and smiled.

"You're turning 17 tomorrow, right?" She asked excitedly.

I laughed and shook my head. Her eyes widened.

"Then, can I ask you a question?" She said which didn't give me much of a choice but to nod. 

"Have you ever fallen in love with anyone?" She asked with full of hope in her eyes.

It made me stop from walking which made her worry. 

"I'm sorry..." she said sadly. I smiled and pinched her cheek.

"Nope, I haven't... not yet... of course." I laughed.

"But, maybe one day." I smiled. Astrid giggled.

"They say that when you turn 18, you're going to find that special someone that's meant for you." She said which made me look at Shawn.

Shawn's a year older than me, if he meets his special someone, will he be the same? That feeling made my chest hurt. I was speechless but Astrid was waiting for an answer. I smiled.

"I guess."

I returned to my room later on. I opened the door to the balcony and stepped outside to get some air. I still haven't stopped thinking about what Astrid said. I don't know why Shawn was the first I thought of when she said that. Maybe because Shawn and I have been close since we were kids? I kept sighing while thinking of a possible way to cover up my feelings.

I looked at the moon and closed my eyes. Why do I have these feelings in the first place? I sighed and sat down on a chair. I relaxed myself for a bit but I quickly stood up when I saw a vision. I was on a cradle with someone, then a figure took me and I heard a woman crying. I quickly made my way inside, hitting a few things while I find my way towards the door. I kept my eyes closed and my ears cupped. Eventually I fell on the floor, then the darkness started to swallow me.

"Alexa? Alexa!" I heard Emily before completely losing consciousness.

Shawn's POV

I heard a loud thud when I was walking towards my room. Then I heard Emily shout Alexa's name. I quickly ran towards her room, it made me stop when I saw her door that was wide open. I continued to ran into her room and saw Emily holding Alexa in her arms.

"Alexa!" She shouted and then noticed me.

"Shawn! Help me!" She exclaimed.

"What happened?" I asked while I tried to pick her up. Emily was shaking.

"I don't know. I heard something fall so I went to check up on her, but then I saw her lying on the ground. I don't know what happened." She started crying.

I laid her down on her bed and observed if she had any wounds or scratches that might indicate an attack but there were none. I sighed in relief and covered her with a blanket. I walked towards Emily and consoled her.

"Calm down, she's just probably exhausted. You saw how she was earlier." I said which made her calm down.

"Speaking of which, where did you and Philip run to?" I asked which made her laugh awkwardly.

"I-It's nothing! Don't w-worry!" She kept laughing awkwardly then she stood up and walked away.

Weird. I closed the door and walked towards Alexa. I locked the balcony door and looked around, investigating what really happened, but I got nowhere. I sighed and sat next to her. I looked closely and saw her crying in her sleep.

"Mom..." She mumbled which surprised me.

Come to think of it, I never really knew how she really ended up in this place. I held her hand which made her calm down. She stopped crying but I heard her whisper something again.

"I think I love you..."
