Cyrus' POV
"I found her." Angelica threw the door open while she panted with Thana tailing behind her. I gave her a quick smile which she returned with a more loving one.
We all ran towards them since that we all noticed how breathless Angelica is.
"Where is she?" Mom breathed. Her eyebrows crossed as she waited for Angelica's response.
She took in a deep breath and clutched her chest. "We've been flying over areas that were visible to the eye, but what we didn't think of is what if she was down where no human can go." She breathed and looked at us, explaining every detail which I blocked out since that I wanted her to get to the point. "She's in the realm of monsters..."
My eyes widened as the others looked at each other. "She's in Tartarus?" I breathed. She slowly nodded as a response.
"How the hell did she get down there?!" Dad screamed as Mom tried to calm him down. It was only a matter of minutes until Dad stopped pacing back and forth while he ran his hand through his hair.
As he calmed down, we all gathered in the conference room and had Shawn and Astrid brought in by the guards. They could be of some use.
"Now, can you please answer my question?" Dad asked once more, but this time, it was in a more calmed voice. We all waited patiently as Angelica stood up and cleared her throat.
"I had some of the Angels search through the forest, the mountains, and every inch of the country since it would take much time if we search by foot." She said as Aunt Casey and Dad looked at each other while Aunt Casey threw in a smile saying "I told you so." which Dad responded with a scoff. Angelica noticed them which made her clear her throat once more. "An Angel detected a presence inside a cave a few kilometers in the east. When he returned with the report, I came back with him to find out what's inside. We found an entrance." She took out something from her pocket and threw it on top of the table, scattering it to make it more visible for us to see.
There, showed a crack on a wall, and further more from it. It was a whole new other world. Demons and creatures that are recorded in history roamed free. What made my eyes widen was a figure on top of a cliff. My eyebrows crossed as I reached in for the photo.
My thumb brushed against the surface as the figure became more familiar. "Celina?" I breathed.
"Exactly." Angelica responded. "She somehow took over it and had the monsters serve beneath her feet. She is now their Goddess." She sighed. "One thing's for sure, if we want to get her back, we have to defeat the ones guarding her." She took out another photo and handed it to me. "Especially this..." she said as I saw a photo of an enormous three headed dog that sat just below the cliff.
"Cerberus..." And with that, Angelica nodded once more.
"Cerberus once guarded the gate of Tartarus, making sure that no one enters and leaves it. But there is something that's been bothering me the whole time..." She breathed and pinched the tip of her chin while she looked at us with worry. "How did she know where it was?"
We all looked at each other, clueless of how she knew where to find it.
I turned my head to Mom as I looked at her with worry. "Did she visit the library since she came home?" I asked but she shook her head, sadness filled her eyes.
We were all lost in thought until the door flung open once more.
Doesn't anyone here know how to properly open a door?!
"There is only one person that knows the coordinates." Shawn said with his sister behind him, hiding from the questioning gazes that she knows everyone will give.
Crossing my eyebrows, I pushed myself out of my chair. "And who is that person?"
"Philip." He said.
"No shit." I breathed but I felt someone kick my shin making me turn my head back to them but they all gave me a questioning look, except for Mom.
I closed my eyes and sighed. "Okay, how did you know that Philip is the only one who knows where it is?" I asked, sounding more sincere so that someone wouldn't kick my other shin.
"There is only one book about it that exists in this world. And that book is somehow in Philip's possession." He said and walked further in the room. "He never let anyone read or even touch it."
Raising an eyebrow, I scoffed. "Then how do you know that he has it?"
"I saw it inside his office. There were other books piled on top of it to blend it in with the others, but the title on the side of it didn't help it one bit. Philip never noticed that I saw it since that I only caught a glimpse of it." He said which made me doubt him even more.
"Then how did you know that the book is really what you think it is?"
He sighed and shook his head. "The world inside our world." What? Is it some kind of joke?
"That sounded like a fairy tale." I scoffed but Mom cleared her throat.
She looked at me which made me stop. "It is a book that a human once wrote. He once found himself lost in the woods with no one with him. Tracking every step, he made sure that he knows where he would go if he needed to go back, something that he didn't think of that got him lost. He found a cave and thought of staying since the rain was about to pour. But when he started to walk further in, he became curious and curious of why the cave didn't end. And so he found the gate to Tartarus. He observed every creature without being spotted. He spent days of studying them, until he was found. He scurried back to where he had gone through and eventually, he found his way home.
He told the story to his family and friends, but no one believed him. As years passed, he had written everything that happened within that cave and every sighting of creatures that came looking for him after his intrusion. Another year went by and he noticed that the creatures didn't search for him anymore. So he went back inside that woods just to draw a map, but he did not have the courage to enter the cave once more. But caught a glimpse of the one guarding it; Cerberus. He climbed a tree and sketched the creature before him, hoping that it would be enough to prove what he's been telling others for years. But as he grew old, he gave up on proving himself, hiding the book as he thought that the book brought him nothing but misery and hoped to find peace before dying.
No one ever believed him that is why no one ever made a copy of that book. The story was too much for the others to believe so they forgot it as the time passed on. But they were some that was fascinated by it and still remembered so little of what the writer had told the others, but they never got the chance to ask the man themselves. They could only pass down very little information that they heard since that they didn't know where the gate was."
I took in a deep breath and sighed, satisfied that someone at least gave me information with what Shawn was trying to imply.
"And so what is your theory?" I asked, turning my head back to where Shawn and astride are now sitting.
He let out a breath that filled with disbelief. "Philip had somehow gotten the book and Philip might have shown Ale--" he started to call her that again but stopped and cleared his throat when he noticed the death glare that I gave him. "Celina."
I scoffed. "Might have? So you're saying that you're not sure?"
"I am not one hundred percent sure of it but the chances are high. Philip is the only one who has the book."
I shook my head and ran my fingers through my hair. I don't want to trust him fully, but what else could we lose? Except for the time that we might waste, but we really need to take the risk here.
"Alright, let's get my sister back."
