Chapter 38 - The One l Love

Shawn's POV

"What the hell do you mean?!" I exclaimed while I pushed Philip against the wall.

He laughed and spat the blood that flooded his mouth.

"Careful boy, you don't want them to kill you before you could save her." He said and tilted his head on his left. His soldiers pointed their spears, swords and arrows at me.

I chuckled. "Isn't this a bit overkill?" I said sarcastically. "Tell them to stand down or else they're going to have to find a new leader to lead them." I said which made him look into my eyes. He studied my expression before nodding.

"Stand down." He said and with that, the soldiers nodded and left.

I let him go and huffed.

He laughed while he struggled to get to his desk. "I didn't think that you had that in you." He said which made me glare at him.

"Well, you don't actually have a vampire princess to feed off to which makes you weaker than me." I said which made him shrug his shoulders.

"Fare point." He said and sat down.

I glared and lunged at him again. "I'll kill you." I threatened which made him raise him hands up in surrender.

"If you do, then you won't be able to find your friend." He said with a smile.

I growled before letting him go. "Where did you get her?"

He chuckled and shook his head. "From her mother of course." He said.

I glared at him for once more and took out my dagger. He stiffened and cleared his throat.

"North from here. It'll be half a day's travel. I don't need to specify the location but I think you'll know it when you see a huge palace." He said and looked straight into my eyes. "Trust me boy, you don't want to go there. Considering that you came from here and that you wanted to take her away from them, they will get you before you could even kill one person." He said.

I shook my head and scoffed. "I don't won't take her away from them, I just want to know is she's safe or not." I said and turned around to walk out.

"She's with her family, she's safe boy." He said when I heard him stood up from is chair.

I turned around and glared at him. "We were her family, and she wasn't safe with us." I formed a fist with my hand and turned around. "Especially with you." I said and finally walked out.

I slammed the door behind me and sighed. Astrid came running and tried to catch her breath when she got to me. "What... did... he... say?" She said between her breaths.

I smiled and took out my handkerchief from my pocket. I wiped her sweat away which made her smile. "You shouldn't tire yourself like that, you'll catch a fever." I said which made her shake her head.

She smiled and took my fabric from my hand and wiped her sweat by herself. "I can take care of myself." She said which made me smile and pat the top of her head.

"I know you can."

When she was finally able to catch her breath and wipe all her sweat away, we began to walk towards my room.

I opened the door and examined every bit and every corner of it. I smiled and sighed. "I'm going to miss this place." I breathed.

Astrid pulled the corner of my shirt which made me turn my head to her.

I saw Emily, standing behind her.

She was smiling weakly at us. Her eyes were blood shot red which indicated that she had been crying for the past few hours.
