Chapter Fifteen:
A challenge happily lostOver the next few days, Jasper insisted that Lucinda show him everything Manchester had to offer as Carlisle had dashed off to see what had become of his old home, giving the couple a matter if three days until they departed back to America to meet the rest if their family in their new home in Ohio.
And so when the rain started to pour, the newly reunited couple ventured into the city, visiting every boutique that caught Lucinda's eye. Jasper looked like a pack mule by the time six p.m rolled around. He didn't mind though, as being with his soulmate was the purest form of bliss he could ever imagine.
The hunting range, however, was not as prestigious as Jasper expected but with a little travel and some not so great guidance from the brunette, they stumbled upon a woodland area with a few deer.
Speeding through the trees, the vampiric pair raced to get the biggest catch. The winner being able to decide what was next on their agenda. Jasper, being slightly older than his mate, took the lead and soared ahead to his prey.
No matter how quick he was, Lucinda had always been more calculating. Patterns and perspectives were more of her forte. Jasper launched towards the herd of deer, reaching for any he could get, successfully catching one and getting a fraction of his fill. When the deer began to run for self preservation, Lucinda had already sussed the biggest and best catch out of the lot.
She looked down at her freshly killed meal, and then towards her partners, realising that maybe speed could surpass cunningness (although she would never admit it, her ego wouldn't allow Jasper's to grow) from time to time.
A smirk rested on his face, thoughts racing about how he could use this bet to his advantage. As soon as he grasped the idea, he gestured for Lucinda to follow him. With every step, the sound of water grew louder and louder.
Breaking through the tree line, the couple stopped next to each other, gazing upon the lake of which seemed to be made out of thousands of glass shards. A smell as sweet as sap filled the air. It was apparent to Lucinda that the smirk still resided on Jasper's face.
His hands roamed up and down her body, slowly lifting up her shirt. He completely removed before turning her around, giving her a quick kiss upon her lips.
"What are you doing?" She said, giggling at his actions.
"We are going for a swim," He replied, the smirk still there. He undressed himself as she did as well. Grabbing her hand, they began to run at a human pace towards the shimmering lake.
Water splashed everywhere as they cannonballed into the icy cold water. Over the last few days, the vampiric couple were truly carefree, and it would stay this way until mid-January in the new millennium.

A/N: This is the last Chapter of part one. In part two, we are going to pick up just before the 'Twilight' plot begins. It shall be following Lucinda and Jasper's perspective more than Bella's but it won't drift from the storyline to much.
