Chapter Thirty-Four:
Car ride

The airport was relatively quiet as the most recent planes had taken off, leaving only one to come in: the plane from Alaska. This also meant that only a few cars were parked outside, leaving the overly extravagant car to stand out further. Carlisle waited in said car park, listening to the radio of his black Mercedes Benz.

The rain at the start of the storm lightly pattered onto the car as the sound of a plane landing snapped Carlisle out if his thoughts. He smiled knowing that he would see an old friend again.

After shooting Esme a text saying 'Plane had landed, should be back home as soon as possible. :)' He shut off his phone, not sure if his visitor would appreciate such technology let alone be aware enough of their presence in today's society to be able to use one.

Trying to alter his train of thought, Carlisle turned the radio up slightly and tried to concentrate on the song. He wasn't sure on why people would prefer a song on umbrellas instead of some classical, nay proper music like Beethoven and more.

Not even five minutes later, the passenger door opened, showing the arrival of Carlisle's vampiric guest. Giving her host a nod and a smile, they began their short road trip back to Forks.

The local radio station began their Ten o'clock news quite urgently, "Breaking news: Animal attacks continue to occur in and near the minuscule town of Forks, Washington. Locals are starting to suspect tha-"

The newcomer sighed as even though she had just arrived, she had heard enough. Switching off the radio, she began a conversation, "Actual animal attacks or our kind?"

"Our kind. We think it is the same coven that we had issues with before."

"Ah, I see. Is it the same vampires you were telling me about? If they persist, I am sure I will be of assistance if I am needed or even desired to help," She mumbled when silence filled the car, however, she only notices she could be heard through the silence was laughter ringing in the backseat, "How is Esme? I haven't seen her in many years."

He gazed longing at the road ahead, it was obvious to the girl in the passenger seat that he loved her with everything he had, her only wish was that she had the same, even for a minute, with her mate once more.

"Oh, she is as amazing as ever," she smiled as he said this, at least they got their happily ever after, "She has started interior decoration again, the house is lovely since she re-done it earlier this year,"

She watched the trees whiz past as they neared their destination, she leaned forward, resting her hand on her knees waiting for her old friend to ask the question he always does.

"What is it this time?" Carlisle asked as they started to drive down the muddy, dirt path towards the Cullen home, "Nadine, Andi or something completely new?"

"Andi will suffice,"
