"No."
The guard gasped, nobody ever denied their master. No one that lived to tell the tale anyway.
"And why not my dear?" Aro asked, growing agitated as the young vampire refused him. Nadine however, was greatly amused and struggled to keep her laughter to herself, "got something to hide?"
"No, I just don't want you mind-fuckin' my thoughts, pervert."
"LUCI-" Esme scolded as Aro lost his temper.
"How dare you! Jane!"
"Aro" Andi said trying to speak clearly as she had lost control over her laughter, she had never seen Aro been disrespected as such and it was brilliant. Only Lucinda had the balls too. "We have more important matters to discuss. Leave her alone. Jane stop it now."
And sure enough Lucinda stood up, a smug look resting on her face as she walked her niece back away from the kings. Esme shot her a look as she stood with her family again whilst Andi nudged her side, still highly amused.
"There is no broken law," Aro said in a placating tone, watching every one of the opposing witnesses before him, authority laced in his words. Not even Lucinda would begin to fight him, now, not like she did moments ago anyways, "However, does it follow that there is no danger? No, my dear friends. Now we have a bigger issue."
Maggie and Trinity stood together, both shaking their heads in equal anger at Aro's words. Every one of the Cullen's witnesses though Aro was absurd. How could a sweet little girl like Reneesme cause damage?
Pacing, almost floating, upon the ground, Aro considered the 'potential dangers' that the young hybrid could bring as an excuse to finally kill the vegetarian coven of which had defied the Volturi's reign for too long.
"For crying out loud Aro! This girl cried when she accidentally stood on an ant," Nadine sighed, knowing what her brother-in-law's game was, and she knew full well that she didn't want to play it and if she did play his game she wasn't going too lose, "I'm sure that she couldn't bring doom to all vampires."
"Hush, my dear."
"Don't tell me too 'hush' Aro or I swear to Zeus-"
"Nadine, not now," Caius scolded his wife, upset to see her so agitated but alas, he couldn't break his mean demeanour now, "Aro is right, we do not know of what dangers this child brings."
"You don't," Edwards spoke, his voice grave but then again it was slightly smug as well. As if there was reassurance in his point, people in the trees made their presence known, "but Alice does."
Alice does.
Alice.
