Chapter Eighteen:
Pack sunscreen, Eddie-BoyThe Cullen household was usually peaceful and serene, except when the boys played their video games but that is an entire story altogether, and it rarely got disturbed. Esme always said 'a calm house makes an excellent home.' So arguments were few and far between, unless you wanted to make the doctor's motherly wife angry.
It turns out that Isabella Swan, the new girl in town, was Edward's blood singer, his la tua cantante. She drew out the deepest, darkest part of vampirism in him: his blood-thirst.
"Edward," Esme began, walking away from Carlisle and over to her first adoptive son, placing a hand on his shoulder to which he flinched away from. A flash of hurt crossed Esme's eyes before she began again, "is this truly what you need to do? If so we support you."
"Yes. I think it is," he replied, not being able to meet her eyes. He didn't want to release the monster inside of him.
Silence filled the household once more. Each vampire to their own thoughts, except Rosalie who projected her thoughts loud and clear to Edward. She was adamant that he should not let a human, a petty human who was going to die in seventy or eighty years make him leave his home, his family. In Rosalie's eyes, to leave home you must have a good, valid reason.
"Maybe take someone with you?" Carlisle suggested. He couldn't bare the thought of one of his children traveling alone again. He should be with his family, even if it is just one member.
Only one of the Cullen clan had left alone in recent years, learning how to survive on their lonesome — Lucinda. All eyes fell to her, as if she had already been silently picked.
Jasper's grip on her waist got tighter as his eyes grew dark and his stance shifted into something more militaristic. His thoughts grew less clear, only focusing on the fact that his mate, his Lucinda, might have to leave him.
"No." He stated simply, his voice demanding. This one word shook the coven to the core as Jasper was no longer himself. He was stricter, fiercer and madder.
"Jasp—" a glare from the raging empath cut Carlisle away from what he was saying' making him begin again, "Major, just hear us out."

"Pack sunscreen, Eddie-Boy, road trip time," Lucinda said, a smirk forming on her face as she passed Edward in the corridor. After about an hour and a half, the Cullen clan had finally convinced Jasper or the Major as his mind went back to his military days, to let Lucinda leave with Edward under three conditions.
Number one was that she had to call daily, no exceptions. This was easy enough for all of them to agree with.
Number two is that she only had a week before she had to return. Even if Edward continued to travel, she must return to Forks.
And finally, number three is that they may never, under no circumstances ask Lucinda to leave again, without himself that is.
He could barely let her leave his grasp, his touch, his embrace for a second time. But here he was, watching her pack her stuff (it was more like stuffing) with whatever she could find.
"Red or green?" She asked, holding up two t-shirts. She was out if room so she had to sift through her bag, picking and choosing what she needed. And two of the same top was not a requirement.
Jasper shrugged, secretly hoping that the choice of choosing a shirt would annoy her to an extreme, thus making her want to stay. His hopes, however, were short-lived as she flipped a coin, red being the winner.
