Chapter Sixteen:
The town of cutlery

2005

"It is a thing," she ranted, a smile growing on her face as she realised how stupid her argument was. It was two hours into the day on Monday morning and after losing six games of Mario Kart to Emmett, Jasper decided to steal his fiancée for over two years now away. They never found the need to rush into anything like marriage as eternity was theirs until the end of time.

Alice, however, had not been so happy with their easygoingness and had not been able to convince them to start planning as they, much to her dismay, would rather talk about random and petty things instead of seating plans and invitation designs. Pointless conversations were the main topic of interest as of late and today's was how the town of Forks received its name.

Lucinda was adamant that the founder of Forks was a cutlery enthusiast whilst Jasper thought that it was the Surname of the founder. The whole family heard this debate with their supernatural hearing, shaking their heads at their antics. Carlisle was considering but soon decided against telling the couple that the town was truly named after the forks in the four rivers nearby.

Life had been sailing smoothly since Lucinda returned back to the States with Jasper and Carlisle. No dramatics (except the time when Lucinda 'tripped' in a pair of Alice's Gucci heels. They didn't talk for a month) or tension. All was right and well within the Cullen household.

"A cutlery admirer?" Jasper was enjoying this way more than he should. Lucinda never failed to amuse him with her craziness and far-fetched ideas, "Darlin' are you sure?"

"Completely and utterly," she reassured and she snuggled deeper into her lover's arms and all Jasper could do was hug her tighter.

"So the new girl apparently showed up today," William said as he and Lucinda walking into the cafeteria from their English class. They sat at their usual table in the corner of the room. Jasper greeted his fiancée with a kiss on the cheek and pulling her onto his lap.

"Okay..."

"Meant to be pretty cute actually," He said, glancing over to the well talked about Isabella Swan, "The talk wasn't wrong."

Alice clipped him upside his ear for that comment, but not before glancing towards the new girl as if to see who was more beautiful. Alice obviously took the prize, but even she would admit that for a human she looked nice.

"The two that walked in," Lucinda heard from the table which held Isabella Swan and her new found friends. She instantly knew the voice to be Jessica Stanly, the school bitch, "are William and Lucinda. Like Rosalie and Emmett, they are also with their siblings: William with Alice and Jasper with Lucinda. Totally weird. I don't think it's legal."

"Oh, Lu-cin-da? That is a strange name. Is she not from here?" The new girl asked.

"No. None of them are. But I guess her name matches her personality. She is a freak, just like the rest of them. But Lucinda, she makes them seem normal."

The food on the Cullen's table began to shake slightly. How dare she prejudge their relationship? Jasper, although hating to, used his gift and a few soothing words to calm Lucinda down.

Her power had only intensified over time, but instead of running from it like she had done previously, Jasper had helped her embrace it and learn from it.
