Chapter Thirty-Six:
Houseguest
As the river constantly flowed, it didn't seem that time was passing for the two vampires that sat by it, watching it move. Standing up, Lucinda realised that she needed to return with the vervain.
"You can't be here any longer," she said as she put her jacket back on, preparing to leave herself.
"Yeah, I guess," he said, reluctantly standing up. He didn't want to leave, but he had for filled his need for being by the river, "It was nice seeing you again, Luci."
"Yeah, it was. You have my details, I would love to see you again soon," she replied, wishing for this goodbye to be easy, but simplicity was never on Lucinda's side of life.
"Yeah... what I said before you left the first time is still true you know."
"And what I said is true as well. It was nice to see you again Garrett. Bye" and with that, Lucinda walked to collect some vervain for the house guest she knew nothing about.
After collecting what she thought to be a sufficient amount, she started to walk home. For once in a long time, she had truly enjoyed her day, but now she had to go home.
Approaching the house, she saw mostly everyone gathered in the living room. The only exceptions were Bella and Edward who were currently at the Chief's house, waiting for the opportunity to sneak out to join the family.
Of course, the house guest was there. From what Luci could see, she was beautiful, everything about her screamed GODDESS in every feature, from the way she carried herself to the varnish on her nails. However, there was one key feature that stood out the most to Lucinda: her purple eyes.
Walking up the stairs to the living room, all conversation stopped as Lucinda walked in. Everyone gave her questioning looks, all confused about her day.
As she placed the vervain flowers in a vase, she was shot a question from Alice: "Where on Earth have you been?"
"Getting your flowers," she replied, "and I ran into an old friend who I travelled within, God, what year was it? Somewhere around 1948 to somewhere in the 50's. I didn't really keep track of time then."
Seeming happy with that response, Alice turned her attention to the guest once more. "Andi, this is Jasper's mate Lucinda."
Andi nodded her head at the girl as a greeting before resuming her conversation with Carlisle. Something about politics and stuff of the sort. Bored, Lucinda decided to head upstairs, aware of her follower six paces behind her.
Going into hers and Jasper's room, she turned to face her follower with a smirk. "What are you doing up here with me? We have company for you to entertain."
"I have something much, much better to do than to entertain someone,"
"And what may that be, Mr Whitlock?" Lucinda replied, the smirk growing wider as she pottered around the room.
It was finally his turn to smirk as he began to walk over to his mate, making her spin into his arms, "Making up for lost time, Miss Hill."
