Chapter Fifty-five:
You, to put in simply, are worth living for.
Caius studied Bella and Reneesme. "Your daughter, is she venomous?" he demanded harshly, keeping up his glare which was as cold as the snow resting on the field.
"No," Bella said, her head held high. Alice was right, Bella remembered that she should never make bets against Alice as she did weeks ago when she had left Forks.
"Brother," Aro said softly to Caius, knowing that they had no chance to destroy the Cullen coven as their evidence provided them innocent on all accounts. "There appears to be no danger. This is an unusual development, but I see no threat. These half-vampire children are much like us, it appears."
"Is that your vote?" Caius demanded, glaring at the Cullen clan.
"It is. We will take our leave then, I'm sorry to have inconvenienced you. I hope there are no hard feelings. I know you understand the strict burden that our duty places on our shoulders."
"Leave in peace, Aro," Carlisle said stiffly. "Please remember that we still have our anonymity to protect here in Forks, and keep your guard from hunting in this region."
"Of course, Carlisle," Aro assured him. "I am sorry to earn your disapproval, my dear friend. Perhaps, in time, you will forgive me."
"Perhaps, in time, if you prove a friend to us again."
Aro, as well as the entire Volturi, wives and all, turned and began to leave the field. The blonde haired king only stopped to watch his wife in disappointment before following his guard back into the tree line where they had originally emerged from.
Nadine looked longingly at the tree line where her husband just stood, wanting to follow him but she knew that she couldn't, she stood against him. She-
"Andi," Edward spoke softly, snapping her out of her spiral of thoughts, "he will forgive you. Go home, you deserve it."
The other members of the Cullen clan reassured Nadine of Caius' impending forgiveness. They only want the best for her, no matter who that 'best' is.
"Auntie Andi?" Renesmee asked, worried that she would never see the ancient vampire again.
"Yes, mia caro."
"Will you promise you'll come to visit me soon? I'll miss you a lot."
"Of course, I promise on everything I am," Andi spoke softly, warmed the hybrid's words.
Nadine looked at the trees once more before kissing Nessie's head. After giving Carlisle a nod of thanks, she darted into the trees after her family.
Nadine Volturi had finally made it home.
The Cullens walked back to their home, their witnesses joining them to talk without death looming over them. Lucinda was ecstatic to fond out Garrett had found his mate in Kate, whilst Trinity wouldn't return to her nomad lifestyle but would try the 'vegetarian life' in Alaska with the Denali's.
"So does this mean you will stop philandering with me, Garrett?" Luci quipped as the rest of her coven said goodbye to their cousins.
"I guess so. It isn't fun to be started down by your fiancé, and Kate might be giving you enough voltage to blow up the Pentagon. So for your sake, sure?"
She laughed, "For my sake? I can take you down any day!"
"I would like to see you try, Pip-squeak."
Lucinda flicked her wrist, causing Garrett to topple over the balcony's railing and onto the driveway. Maybe, just maybe, she didn't have to run away anymore.
