Chapter Forty-Four: That 'thing'

The Chief

"I can't see her!" Alice mumbled.

    "What do you mean?" Carlisle responded calmly from the chess table where he was currently winning a game of chess against Lucinda who had gave up trying very quickly. He was only a few moves away from winning, but that no longer occupied his mind

    "Bella! I can't see her-" a phone's buzz interrupted Alice as she looked down as her handheld device. Lucinda made her move as Alice accepted the call. placing the phone to her ear. "Bella?"

    "Can you put Rosalie on the phone." Bella requested although she knew that the whole coven could probably hear her. A couple seconds after, Bella added a second request, "alone."

    Rosalie came into the room, taking the phone from Alice's hand before promptly leaving the room again. It was only moments later that the coven heard her stomp into the woods.

    Carlisle gave a countermove, Lucinda got an advantage. The coven tried to avoid the elephant in the room but it didn't last very long as the landline buzzed in a similar manner as Alice's cellphone. It wasn't Bella this time but it was her husband: "Put Carlisle on the phone."

    "On speaker." Carlisle responded.

    "Bella- she's, she's pregnant. Or at leas has the symptoms."

    "Is that even poss-"

    "Possible? That's why I called. We're coming home to get that thing out of her."

    Lucinda snarled down the phone, "That 'thing' is your child! Don't take this badly Edward, you'll lose Bella."

    "I WILL LOSE HER IF SHE KEEPS THAT ABOMINATION."

    Lucinda hung up the phone

    Slipping her hair behind her ear, Andi watched as Lucinda raged on. The girl she once knew seeped through Lucinda's veins. It was strange for Andi to see her again, but alas, Lucinda was not the hooded woman.

    "I've never heard of a case this peculiar. I have heard of hybrids, even tribrids, but never of a human pregnant with a vampric fetus. How queer." Andi spoke quite nonchalantly.

    "You can't say that!" Lucinda chimed from the other side of the room, speaking to Andi again for the first time since she revealed the truth about Lucinda's curse.

    "What did I say wrong? Am I not supposed to mention the child?"

    "You said 'queer.' You can't say that!"

    "It means strange, what is wrong with the word 'strange?'"

    "It means 'Gay.'"

    "Oh," Andi responded softly. She was still bad with what she called 'Infantile language' and slang words, "I apologize if my misinterpretation has offended you, my dear. But this child will be revolutionary, I can ensure your that."
