Chapter Forty-Five:
Away from the world

Leaning forward to grab the blanket, Bella groaned in pain. The baby- no fetus- was killing her and her best friend, Jacob Black, and just left her alone. The colour drained from her face mere hours after she returned to Forks and it has yet to return. Rosalie rushed over to her as soon as she heard Bella's discomfort. Esme sat next to her, rubbing her back comfortingly.

Edward, Jasper, Emmett and Alice refused to support Bella in her demand to keep her baby. Carlisle, Esme, William and Rosalie stood by her side, knowing that this addition to the coven could be a miracle. Lucinda had yet to give her input and Nadine didn't feel that her opinion was important as she wasn't in their coven.

Carlisle walked into the room, carrying the notebook that had been dedicated to recording Bella, and the baby's, development. Flipping through the book, Carlisle began to write down how much Bella had eaten (which was half a sandwich before it made a reappearance) and other visual observations before storing the book in the cabinets behind the sofa.

"Luci?" Rosalie called from behind the sofa, looking pleadingly at her sister.

Lucinda played her chess move, "Yeah? What's up?"

    "Have you decided yet?"

"I'm not choosing anyone," Luci said passively. Sighing, she watched Andi make her move on the chess board. She had decided to let her rage for Nadine go as her family had bigger issues.

    "So that means that-"

"It means that I am staying out of it!"

Violently standing up, she stormed out of the room, away from Rosalie and her pressure. She was sick to her core of being asked whether she was choosing if the baby should live or not. She just wanted some peace and quiet. Swiftly, she left the house, knowing that someone was following her.

Jasper stayed a few paces behind his fiancee until she stopped by an old pine tree. He walked up to her before wrapping her into his arms. He had felt her stress for days, wanting to reach out and comfort her but he couldn't be near Bella and that is where she was most of the time.

"Hey," he murmured in her ear softly, "I got you, I've got you."

    "Do I have to choose?"

"You don't have to do anything, Darlin'. Not a thing in the world. Just think about what is best for Bella. I don't want the fetus gone, but I don't want Bella gone either."

"I know, I just can't deal with everyone trying to get me to choose a side every two seconds."

"Then it's decided then," Jasper said as he spun Lucinda in his arms so she faced him, "we'll stay in our room, away from the world, from the family."

Lucinda smiled up at her love before diverting her eyes and nestling her head in his chest, "You would do that for me?"

"I would die every day waiting for you, Miss Lucinda."
