Chapter Twenty-Eight:
Monologue and time jumps

The phantom that had followed the Olympic coven for the last few months decided that she couldn't bare to see his broken eyes any longer, and him burning her note made it final. Lucinda Hill, or her spirit, would stay in Forks until Isabella was healthy once more.

It wasn't the easiest thing to do, sure.  But was it the most important thing that she could do, definitely. Maybe, she thought, just maybe if.she watches over Bella she can finally transcend from the awfulness of watching in silence, fated to never be heard again.

"Damn it, " the poltergeist whispered to herself as Bella woke herself screaming for the third night on the trot. All Lucinda longed to do was comfort Bella, tell her.everything will be fine as soulmates eventually find their way back to each other.

Charlie Swan, police chief of the small town of Forks was fed up. His daughter was practically comatose and he had finally had enough.

"That's it! You're going to Jacksonville to live with your mother."

"No. I'm staying here, " retaliated his daughter who was trying to come up with a valid argument, "I like Forks."

"When was the last time you saw your friends -- outside of school?"

"Im actually going shopping with Jess soon."

Charlie sighed, not satisfied with the answer but not pushing his daughter. He knew that was all he was getting out of her, so he told her that he loved her and drove to work, their conversation replaying over and over in his mind.

Bella on the other hand, drove to the school, finally getting back to her life. Lucinda smiled as she made plans with Jessica to go to Port Angeles, knowing that this was the first step to healing and moving on, even if the nightmares were a common occurrence.

Turning around, the phantom of Forks walked away from the girl with a broken smile.

She had found it, her files. A sense of horror filled her veins. Was this the reason she couldn't remember? Was the memories too horrible that she blocked them out as they happened.

"What's up Buttercup," William said as he saw his wife gazing at the files. Sitting down beside her, he read the documents, "Oh, Allie,"

"Don't," she replied, chucking the papers onto the mahogany table, "don't pity me. I've changed. That's not me. It can't be."

Pulling her into a hug, William whispered sweet nothings into her hair in an attempt to comfort his love, seeing her sad for the first time since they left Forks.
