Chapter Twenty-Two:
Saturday
                                The ride home was tedious to say the least, it had been years since Lucinda had to drive at a human pace. Rolling her eyes at the driver, she decided to plug in her earphones, turn on Spotify and text Emmett.
                              Hey.
                              Hi?
Did Edward leave you
somewhere?
                              No
I did, however, get disowned.
Currently in a taxi home.
                              Ha!
What happened?
                              Turns out Eddie is a stalker.
We followed his human around
Took her to dinner. I got glared
out.
                              Sucks to be you!
                               No sympathy for your
sister?
                              Nope.
How slow is the taxi?
                               Lets just say I may be
dead by the time I arrive.
Tell the family I love them!!
                              Ill get you a nice coffin.
                              Honoured.
                              Where you at?
                              Boarder of Forks
Ten minutes max
                              Good. Jasper has been
jumpy since you left.
So has Alice.
                              Is she mad?
                              Very.
                              Oh shit!
                              Language!
                              Sorry dad.  :(
                              Placing down her phone, Lucinda decided to enjoy the last few minutes of peacefulness she would have for the rest of that evening as Alice would definitely not let her not plan the wedding. She just hoped that Jasper had done some work towards it.
                              Pulling up in front of the house, Lucinda chucked the taxi driver $40, telling him to keep the change as she briskly walked into the house, wanting nothing more than to sit with Jasper, watching some 'Friends.'
                                But luck was not on her side that evening as she found out that the family would be meeting Isabella that weekend.
                              ~~~~
                                  Saturday came quicker than anyone had hoped and tensions were high in the Cullen household. Everyone went about their duties on the dreary Saturday morning, preparing for the worst outcome possible: the death of the human Isabella Swan.
                              Of course, nobody would hold it against Jasper if he couldn't handle the outlandishly sweet scent of Edward's mate, but they all knew that their future was changing but no one knew if that was for better or for worse.
                              The overly joyful voice of the Food Network chef filled the Cullen's kitchen as the vampires attempted to cook some Italian food for Bella as she would be coming round to visit today.
                              Jasper had gone out hunting early, to prepare for this event as everyone knew his struggle. Emmett had been teasing Rosalie, with Carlisle and Esme laughing at their antics as the prepped the lasagne. Lucinda spectated from the island, sitting on the granite, throwing in the odd comment.
                                  Eventually, the only noise in the room was the tv and the chopping of vegetables as the gravel creaked from outside where Bella and Edward had arrived.
                                  Drifting out of the window before the human saw her, Lucinda went into the tree line where Jasper was waiting for her. Wrapping her arms around him, they enjoyed what little silence they had.
                                  "We say 'Hi' then we leave, " Lucinda said as she pulled her mate through the window. Bella looked at them curiously, contemplating why they would use a window when the doors we're fully functional.
                                  Edward began the last of his introductions, "...and this is Jasper and Lucinda, you have already met Luci in biology. Don't listen to her though, she doesn't say anything intelligent."
                                  "I will go all defenestration* over you arse," Lucinda retaliated, struggling and failing to keep the laugh off her face, the rest of the family joined her (bar Bella who didn't know what defenestration is.) Jasper, however, kept his face at a stand still, not breathing and keeping his mate by his side for reassurance.
                                  Bella, being overly observant, noticed how her barely moved and sent a questioning look to Edward, but it was Carlisle who responded, "Jasper still struggles with his control, but overall he does fine,"
                                  After Edward and Bella left to tour the house, Jasper took a deep breath before the family took damage control. It wasn't that bad, only a smashed bowl but that was more than anyone had hoped for, especially the Texans.
                              —
