It's me again God,
Just saw the movie Paul the Apostle and it really helped me appreciate how Christians in the early church sacrificed and suffered for Your Name. I know that people in other countries right now are being persecuted for following You and one day that may happen here too. It made me question my own faith and I found myself asking, 'Would I be willing to be thrown in prison and die for the sake of the Gospel?'
I know that this was just one interpretation of life at that time but I believe it was fairly accurate and it helped a lot to see the sort of conditions in which the apostle Paul possibly wrote. His letters which make up so much of the New Testament have always been so precious to me but I didn't imagine how much he suffered for You as he wrote them.
It was also interesting to see Luke supporting and working alongside Paul for the sake of the gospel. Thank You for the people who wrote and directed this movie and for the actors too. May many people draw closer to You as they see it and have a renewed interest in reading the New Testament and seeing it through new lenses.
I pray that we would all be able to say, as Paul did in his letter to the Philippians:
"I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."
Philippians 1:20-21 NIVAmen!
