It's me again God,
Thank You for all I have learned as I have studied this wonderful Psalm of David. I am so thankful for the relationship I have with You, my personal Shepherd! You lead me, supply my needs, provide rest, refreshment and healing. You guide and protect me always, You are ever faithful and bring me hope each day, anointing me and giving me an abundant supply of blessings - more than I could ever want or need!
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."
Psalms 23:1-6 KJVWhat a beautiful ending this Psalm has! David seems so encouraged by this point as he has examined the many aspects of his Shepherd's supply. There is a real sense of joy and complete contentment, not just for the present but for his future. How wonderful it is Lord, to be so sure of my relationship with You that I can say with confidence 'surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life'. You pursue me with Your goodness and steadfast love and I am so thankful that it's not just for today. I am joyfully expectant about my future, both here on earth and then in heaven because You are with me wherever I am. Jesus You made this possible because You came as the Shepherd who lay down Your life for Your sheep by dying on the cross.
Thank You for Your amazing sacrificial love that has brought us all such unsurpassing peace. Bless all who wander this world feeling alone, discouraged and afraid. They need to come to You and acknowledge You as their Shepherd, their Lord and Saviour. May I be used to speak Your words of life, hope and grace to all I meet in the coming days, so many would come to know You personally and receive by faith the promise of eternal life with You.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
