It's me again God,

Day to day life rarely goes smoothly and sometimes, various issues arise and continue to present challenge after challenge.  Thank You for being with me through all the seasons of life and for Your Word which blesses me and guides me so much! It continues to bring encouragement in many situations.

The apostle Paul went through all sorts of trials and was able to encourage the Corinthians in his letter to them, as he had been through so much himself:

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."

"We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body."

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:8-10, 16-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I love Paul's encouragement to not give up!  The best thing is that even though our 'outer person' gradually wears out, our 'spirit' is renewed every single day as we pray and read Your Word, claiming all the promises and remembering all that Jesus has done for us!

It's great to do this so we can view our slight, short-lived troubles in the light of eternity - they won't last very long!  Paul could see difficulties as the very thing that produces for us an eternal glory, far beyond all comparison, because we don't focus our attention on what we can see now but on what is unseen.

Sometimes, it seems that everything in society is trying so hard to get us to just think about what is happening now but I am reminded as I read Your Word, that the things we see now will be gone soon enough, but the things we cannot see will last forever!

Lord please help me to remember this as I live from day to day.  As much as there are so many wonderful things in this world, I am longing for eternity with You!
All because my Saviour died for me,
Amen.
