It's me again God,

Thank You that it's never too early to call out to You in prayer! I was reminded of this as a noisy kookaburra called out just before dawn! Apparently their call is all about claiming territory and alerting their family to some sort of outside threat.  As I start this new day, I must remember that as I do, I go into battle! There is an enemy who is very real and prowls around seeking to devour! Thank You that I don't need to be afraid because Jesus has already won the victory over Satan! He tries to make me fearful but I am not going down that path! I will remember throughout this day that I dwell in a very safe place:

"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him."
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The psalmist sang using four of  Your names, 'Most High' —Elyon, 'Almighty' —El Shaddai, 'the Lord' —Yahweh and 'my God', Elohay.  Speaking Your various names reminds me of Your amazing characteristics and is very comforting when I feel threatened. These verses are very positive as the writer says when I dwell in Your shelter, I will find rest in Your shadow. There is no doubt about this! It's an intimate place of much closeness and obviously the psalmist is speaking from experience.

A declaration is made about You which is powerful and reassuring and I can say the same thing— You alone are my refuge and place of safety. I run to You when I'm threatened for You are my God and I trust You!

"For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection."
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Again there is such a picture of closeness in coming to You. Nothing looks more comforting than seeing an adult bird covering its young under its wings, providing both a cover and shelter. Thank You that I can come to this safe place whenever I want to and in fact because of Jesus, I always dwell there! The enemy lays out traps and if I should fall into one, You will rescue me! This indicates my tendency to fall into sin but gives a positive reminder that You do the rescuing! It's interesting that in the same sentence, the psalmist also talks about being protected from deadly disease. It reminds me that Jesus died on the cross, taking care of all our sin and our illnesses—bringing me peace:

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank You so much for bringing these verses to my attention today. Thank You that I can boldly declare, You will rescue me from every trap and protect me from deadly disease. You will cover me with Your feathers. You will shelter me with Your wings!

Thank You that Your faithful promises are my armour and protection against the enemy. I am forever safe!

Because Jesus came,
Amen.
