It's me again God,

"Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭8:1-9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

After many psalms of despair, in Psalm 8, David was moved to gain some perspective as he lifts up Your Name in praise and considers the amazing beauty in creation.
He starts by realising how powerful and great Your Name is and how people everywhere see Your splendour. Even little children praise You!

As David considers all of Your workmanship in the heavens,  he wonders why You would bother with us mere people but then lists all the things you have done to provide for us, as You made us to rule over all the animals.  He certainly seems much happier than in previous chapters. I think a little perspective did wonders!

Lord as I look at my situation right now, I pray that I too would take my eyes off myself and see how You are bigger than all of my problems. May I put things into perspective by looking at Your majesty and considering all You have made. You have done so much for me and blessed me in so many ways. Like David , I simply say, Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth!

Amen.
