It's Me Again God

116. Overcomer

It's me again God,

I come to You today, humbly asking that You teach me, mould me and make me into the person You want me to be. Give me ears to hear and eyes to see as I read these verses from 1 John 5.

""Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."

Verse 4 stands out amongst the rest of the passage because I guess we all have a desire to 'overcome'. What is it that will help us overcome the world? FAITH! Faith is the victory! As Christians we are so blessed to be able to put our complete, confident trust in Jesus, knowing that everyone who believes, overcomes the world.

"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:57‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Lord I trust in You and claim the victory that You won at the cross! Thank You that the enemy has been defeated and now I live a victorious life in You being able to do things which previously would have been impossible. I can love others because Jesus won the victory over hate at the cross! Sin has no power over me —in Christ I am an overcomer!

"And when that which is mortal puts on immortality, and what now decays is exchanged for what will never decay, then the Scripture will be fulfilled that says: Death is swallowed up by a triumphant victory!"

Lord help me to meditate on this amazing truth throughout the day! I give You all the praise and glory for Your amazing gift of Jesus.

I love the words of this old hymn we used to sing and thought of it when I read these verses:
