It's me again God,
Thank You that as I begin this new day, I don't have to be concerned about my performance or how well I will do as a Christian. I could be trying really hard in my own strength and still fall short in many areas. All I need to do is to allow Your Holy Spirit to have free reign in my life in everything I say and do and then I will remain connected to Your life giving flow.
""I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
John 15:5 NIV
Jesus, I can't do anything without you but You tell me, as I remain in You, I am able to produce a lot of fruit and bring You glory! This is exciting!
Paul goes on to explain this fruit as being of the Spirit:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
Thank You for the privilege of having Your Spirit dwelling inside of me to produce the very best fruit! This fruit is not produced by my hard work but by just resting in You, keeping connected to the Vine! Spending this time talking to You and reading Your Word is just one way I keep connected to You. Being aware of You throughout the day, noticing Your hand in nature or Your blessing and favour in a situation, also helps. Help me to remember it's all about just 'being' and not 'doing'.
Jesus, You came that I might have life and have it to the full (John 10:10). That life was always Your plan for me. David even spoke of it:
"The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, "The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.""
Psalm 92:12-15 NIV
Thank You that because Jesus came and died for me, taking all my sins, I am righteous and so I will flourish, stay green and continue to grow by Your Spirit, producing much fruit. I pray that people will see I am different by the quality of my love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. May my life point people to You because I am connected to the Vine!
